30th-Anniversary Editions Of 'Blizzard', 'Diary' Delayed

Sorry but.....

OZZY OSBOURNE: 30th-Anniversary Editions Of 'Blizzard', 'Diary' Delayed - Aug. 30, 2010

According to CDJapan.co.jp, 30th-anniversary editions of OZZY OSBOURNE's classic "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman" albums — which were previously due Japan on October 13 — have been postponed until next year. The "30th Anniversary Legacy Edition" of "Blizzard Of Ozz" will include a bonus disc featuring more than 10 tracks. The three-album reissue series will also include "Blizzard Of Ozz" ("30th Anniversary Edition") and "Diary Of A Madman" ("30th Anniversary Edition").

To pre-order these two items, follow these links:

* "Blizzard Of Ozz" (pre-order)
* "Diary Of A Madman" (pre-order)

When asked about Ozzy's upcoming 30th-anniversary editions of his first two albums at a Toronto press conference in May, Osbourne's wife/manager Sharon said, "They are coming out for Thanksgiving and they will be on the market then. . . It's going back to the original recordings with [Bob] Daisley [bass] and [Lee] Kerslake [drums]. And there will be a lot of stuff that you haven't heard before in the packages. Like certain conversations that were going on in the studio with the guys just messing around while the tape was still rolling. All of that will be added into it."

Bob Daisley, who played bass on the first two solo albums by Ozzy Osbourne, said in a recent interview with his web site that he has not been contacted about the 30th-anniversary editions of those records being released later this year. The tracks played by Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake on both albums — 1980's "Blizzard Of Ozz" and 1981's "Diary Of A Madman" — were replaced on a previous reissue after Daisley and Kerslake sued Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne over royalties.

Daisley told the web site, "Neither Lee nor I have been contacted, considered or consulted in the decision to re-release the original recordings. I haven't a clue as to what the 'bonus material' might be. As for royalties, we have not been approached for a reconciliation and have been offered and promised nothing."

Ozzy told The Pulse of Radio he was against the idea of replacing the original tracks when he found out about it. "Believe me, it wasn't my doing," he said. "I mean, I didn't know that was being done, 'cause Sharon was fighting all the legal things that were going down at the time. I said, 'What did you do that for?' And she said, 'The only way I could stop everything was if it went to that level.' And I said, 'You know what, whatever the circumstances were, I want the original thing back.' I mean, I wouldn't have done that."

The replacement tracks were played by current METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo and FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin.

Daisley says that he and Kerslake were fired because of disagreements with Sharon over a number of things, including refusing to do two shows in one day out of worry that Ozzy would blow out his voice.

Ozzy's latest solo album, "Scream" came out at the end of June.

I hope it's 150% good when I get it. I mean, all the Randy stuff will be 1000%, but I want everything else to be good.

Delayed. What a surprise! I mean, I really thought it was gonna happen this time! You know, something promised was gonna come out when they said it was! Especially something with some rare never-heard-before goodies! I'm so shocked that this happened! Us Rhoads fans never get fucked over! Ever!

Well, I'm a little bit disappointed but I had a feeling that this was going to be delayed until the new year. Hopefully things are being worked out now with all parties that played on these classic albums. I would love to hear some of...... Shit, make that ALL of Bob Daisley " Holy Grail" material that he has to be included with this box set! :) The O$bournes need to do the right thing and make everyone happy and make this Randy Rhoads box set full of things that will WE the fans have wanted for sooooooooo long and wished for. I never thought that we would hear or see anything new with Randy OR that something even existed, until they talked about these 30th anniversary editions that they were working on. Time to open the vaults and put everything that they have into this box set and make it even better than what I thought it was going to be!! I can wish can't I ??

It better be good for 50 dollars each set. I just wish they wouldn't delay the set until next year. That's like... another year! I don't feel like waiting anymore. Some have waited 28 years and I've been waiting all my life (lol).I just hope the set isn't delayed to a very far away date like next June or something.

Waiting sucks, but it's out of our control. If Sharon was smart, she would have kept her mouth shut about this until it was ready to roll. Now she looks foolish for making that half-assed announcement back in May.
As the royalty case wound up going to the supreme court, Daisley and Kerslake cannot persue this any further, so I don't think they're posing any kind of roadblock.
Like Scooter said, I'd bet the Osbournes are very interested in what Bob has...that would round out the album(s) nicely, and if that's the case, then there probably wasn't enough time to properly go through all of it and include it.
If they all manage to reconcile and are able to speak to each other, Bob is far more in touch with the fans and could be the one who informs them how the fans have been clamoring for the fadeout solos to be added as well.
The postponement is a letdown, but hopefully it's all worth it in the end. I'd rather they add more to it in the sound and vision end than cheapen it with plectrums and other kid stuff.

EXACTLY what i thought. We should have seen this coming a MILE away....

My issue with everything is this. It's almost THIRTY years later. Most general fans have moved on (way on...). There are some dedicated Randy fans such as us, but c'mon. Documentaries, info, supposed "video's" hanging out there....
Alot of these things should be made/finished by now (or YEARS ago....). What's next? These things for the "40th" anniversary? "oh, ya know, well, uh, we're gonna get something out for the 40th anniversary, uh....".
Do they want these (supposed) things in people's hands when they're SIXTY??? This is not the way to honor someone's legacy.
This is getting very frustrating and honestly....i don't even believe there is video footage coming out at all. There certainly is no evidence of that except for a couple random blurbs from untrusty mouths. Very frustrated :evil:

I'm actually suprised they didn't want to release the whole shebang on 3/19/2012.
