Well, since you've already got the Mockingbird, I'd point out that my new Gretsch G5120 is quite versatile and probably the best sounding, most playable guitar I've owned. That includes Fender Strats, Gibson Les Pauls, the mockingbird and various Jacksons. Of course Gretsch's ain't for everyone.

Having said that, if I were to ever buy another guitar, I'd probably get a V - either Gibson or Dean.

The LTD 400 range is fancy as hell, a decent price, and super playable. Alternately, if you hate LTD, Schecter also have awesome Metal guitars in that range.

Ahh. lol Well I went to guitar center the other day..was lookin' around at some.
The Gretsch I saw looked Gigantic and I'd feel weird playing one lol. Tried out some of the lower end Deans, Didn't really see any of the good ones. Was gonna try out a Les Paul Custom but I'm a lil over Les Pauls now...Not to mention the gibson ones are expensive as hell.

Les Pauls forever......... I play anything on my three and it all sounds great (to me!).

Jacksons- RR line? Dinky etc? San Dimas? Ibanez JS/Jem/Destroyer? PRS?

Are you thinking left of field as well? I've got a black, Ramones style, set neck Eastwood Hi-Flyer in the back (P90's) and it is a great guitar. They do some excellent models- unusual.

Lot to choose from.....It's giving me GAS just thinking about it.... :D

I always recommend Yamaha Guitars to pupils. They are made in our favourite country Japan Chris :D , and the attention to detail, value and tone is better than guitars quite a few hundred more.

+1 for Les Pauls. :D

If Gibson's are a little too pricey for your budget, you may want to check out the Epiphones.

Here's an 80's era Epiphone I scored on eBay about a year ago.
It has the old "open book" Gibson style headstock which I really like.
I added a '57 Classic in the bridge and a custom fabricated "smoking pickup" in the neck position.

Also ... the PRS Singlecut SE's (and SE trems) are really nice guitars too and they're very reasonably priced.
Definately worth checking out IMO.
