Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy
Steve Vai is a great player but not for Whitesnake, I remember being disappointed when I heard that record, there are some great moments on there but as a whole it just wasn't what I expected and Matt your description is perfect. Even Coverdale has said that he thought he was getting the Steve Vai h...

Re: new Lee interview with Bravewords.com
You know I've read all the stuff about Bob and Lee through the years and I hope what I'm about to say does not sell their contributions (esp. Bob's) short. If you really want to know who was responsible for those first 2 records sounding the way they did, you only have to look at the reason you are ...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy
I think the lick you are speaking of is the intro to the song "Sweet Lady Luck" (I could be wrong) which did not make SOTT but was included on their greatest hits cd a few years back (with Steve Vai playing it). When I watched it I thought Adrian played it better than Steve did, really a s...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy
Adrian was involved in an auto accident a few years back and sustained nerve damage in his shoulder as I remember it. He could play fine but could not stand and hold a guitar for very long at all, I can't remember the year exactly other than it was post Whitesnake and Manic Eden.

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy
I know Adrian is feeling better and is able to actually hold a guitar for longer than 15 minutes now, Adrian did have an EVH influence, especially in some of his songwriting on the first 2 records. I also thought the group was somewhat modeled after Van Halen in some respects. David Coverdale even n...

Re: George Lynch talks about taking place of Randy Rhoads
I will go as far to say that Voodoo Highway is one of my top 3 all-time favorite records, the guitar work on that album is just so great, from both a songwriting perspective and from Jake's solos also, just really well done. If you are a Jake fan, and even if your not but like to watch great guitar ...

Re: John Sykes and Mike Portnoy
Agree with all of you, John is a monster player, pretty sure I remember Zakk naming him as an influence somewhere. John has maybe the best vibrato of all the hard rock players and for that matter of everyone else to!!! I like the fact that Portnoy is a singer and lyric writer to, I hope they get a m...

Re: George Lynch talks about taking place of Randy Rhoads
Voodoo Highway is one of the best albums of the era. Hands down.
100 percent agree, alot of people didn't care for Jake's tone on that record, but there is an unbelievable amount of guitar on that album, and I like the fact that his tone as well as that whole album is really raw fe...

Re: George Lynch talks about taking place of Randy Rhoads
Jake was also up for the DIO guitar slot before Vivian--anyone know what happened there?? Also I love Lynchs playing but I don't think he could pull off any of Randys leads as good as Jake did--plus its true Jake was the better looking man and I believe Lynch had the skunk hairdo which threw Ozzy o...

The Guitars of Ozzy
There is a nice feature about the guitarist who have played for Ozzy in the new issue of iguitar (iguitarmag.com). There is also a really cool video interview with Doug Aldrich of Whitesnake were he talks a little about Randy's influence on his playing (around the 4 minute mark). It is free, just go...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy
Now we're talking, Chet was the man!!!! Absolutely love his playing and he was one of the true gentlemen you would ever meet. In alot of ways Nashville, Tn. would not exist were it not for the genius of Chet Atkins.
