Re: What is Randy's "Historical Significance"??
I hadn't even thought about the guitars he helped create... interesting point. This is one I should have thought of. I think this is quit significant. How many people have created a guitar that is iconic. I think this alone will keep Randy's name in the main stream for a long time to come. I mean L...

Re: Placed order on New Jackson RR1
OK I finally got my guitar. It does look sweet and it plays and sounds really nice. I need to figure how to post pictures. The pictures I took don't look to good so I need to redo them. I might just do a video because I think that will be easier with Youtube.

Yeah, I agree with that. I have not been a fan of the Duncan Distortion. The Flying Dutchman wrote:I think I would also change the brigde pickup, change the Duncan Distortion for a Duncan TB4.

Re: RR 1.5
I like the white guitar with black dots. It is not shown but that one, I think looks great. They did have a "white" Concorde with the original pin striping when they first released these last year. So it looked like Randy's but was white instead of cream. I thought that one looked really g...

Re: What is Randy's "Historical Significance"??
I was thinking about this topic while at work last night, and one thing that occurred to me is that Randy was the first rock guitarist I ever heard talk about studying music and practicing like it was cool. In interviews he mentioned taking lessons to improve himself, and then you'd hear what he wa...

Re: What did you all get for Christmas?
Fun times. Sorry to hear about getting nothing. That does suck.
Paul, I hope you get both pedals. I have a Whammy pedal I really like it. That drop pedal looks like a simpler version of the Whammy.

There are a few companies right now that offer JB sig guitars. Carvin has one and Paradise guitars is the other company that offer a sig guitar. http://www.carvinguitars.com/catalog/guitars/jb200c I guess Paradise closed it's doors recently. They made one with the colored numbers for the fret marker...

Re: What is Randy's "Historical Significance"??
I think part of what you see is the passion the people used after him. Ed contributed to that too. Of course I am not sure all what he brought in total. I think he brought inspiration and some innovations. I think a lot gets covered up or credited to by Ed. An interesting conversation for sure. Same...

What did you all get for Christmas?
I got a new strap that is a replica that Randy wore with his Concord but brass pyramids instead of chrome. I also got the new Wazcraft Boss Super Overdrive. The last thing I got was new knobs for my new guitar that is still being built at Jackson. They pushed the due date back 2 months. Should be do...

I liked your tip of the week. I think self confidence often gets over looked. I struggle with it a lot. I find the days I play better, I am more self confident.

Re: 11 Guitar Speakers for 1980s Metal - Celestion,Electro-V
Interesting, I didn't hear that much of a difference between the V types and the v 30's. THe biggest difference is when the gain was cranked. But even then I thought they sounded really similar with the V types have just a hair more mids in the upper mid registry. When compared to the first video I ...

Re: 11 Guitar Speakers for 1980s Metal - Celestion,Electro-V
Sweet, I'll check them out. It is an interesting comment about the GT12T-75 getting lost in the mix. Since to my ears they sound a little more mid rangy, and I have heard from some very talented audio engineers that mids tend to cut through the mix, that they would get lost in the mix. Nothing compa...

So what can we learn from this? Get shit in writing before you do anything. I have real life lessons for this as well. You will get screwed, more than likely, of don't do this up front. It is a damn shame that some people cant keep their words.

Re: 11 Guitar Speakers for 1980s Metal - Celestion,Electro-V
Kind of fun to listen to them with out watching the video. I stopped all 3 times on the G12T-75 I must have an ear for that speaker for I have chosen as the speakers I use at home. I like vintage 30's too but I really like that mid rangy honk you get from the g12t-75. It really stands out, at least ...
