Re: Randy's take on Lee Kerslake

Actually, Frankie Benalli wrote the triplet part that showed up on "Over the Mountain." The original L.A. band that Ozzy rehearsed with prior to going back to England was Frankie Benalli on drums, Dana Strum on bass and Randy.

Re: Eerie Sounds on Blizzard Of Ozz

The entire BOO album seems to have a theme of disillusionment, beginning with "I Don't Know." "Crazy Train" is has tons of geo-political musings. "Goodbye to Romance" is all about the dying of something one once believed in. "Suicide Solution" is about the los...

Re: a third album with randy

No, I didn't think that at all, Axeman. For all of Kevin's coke-fueled, ego-driving mouthing that he did in the early '80s, he seemed like a really nice guy at the end of his life--a guy who'd learned from his mistakes and had grown up some. I do respect that he never really wanted to use Randy's le...

Re: How long did randy have to wait....

Don't forget: Randy was well-known in L.A. and the fact that he was playing with Ozzy got him a little clout as well. You'll note that he wasn't dealing with a huge corporation like Gibson. At the time, Charvel/Jackson wasn't that big of a company. He couldn't have called up Gibson and said, "H...

Re: a third album with randy

I posed the question of writing credit about "Teenage Anthem/Winner Takes All" on the old QR board. Frankie Benalli said that Kevin was more-than-fair in sharing writing credit. He said that sometimes Kevin was even "generous" in sharing credit. Once I read an interview with Kevi...

Re: a third album with randy

There's very little to suggest that QR would've survived much longer even if Randy hadn't bailed. And though they were a large draw, they were playing out less and less. And let's face it: The RR version of QR just wasn't that good. The songs were goofy and kind of lame (with a few obvious exception...

Re: 2 and a half unreleassed songs (Randy)

I guess it depends on what you call "songs." If there is just music, then Max could be thinking there are no more songs. As far as Ozzy/Sharon holding out on us: It could be a very simple explanation of they just don't remember. I'm certain that they don't go around obsessing over this stu...

I know that he played in Kevin's band after QR called DuBrow.

Re: ZAKK WYLDE: The Best Thing For RANDY RHOADS Was Hookin'

Lee Kerslake said that Bob "took Randy by the scruff of the neck" and sort of tutored him along and helped him. Here's the thing about Randy. It's clear from listening to those QR songs that Randy wasn't much of a songwriter. Phenomenal guitarist, but there are lots of great guitarists who...
