Re: Sharon
No one ever seems to bring up that probably Sharon wrestled to control the band and make Ozzy more like a solo artist because that way he could not get fired again. Any bad blood and other people get let go. Ozzy could only probably function in a band where he couldn't get fired but everyone else co...

Re: Randy VS. Speak Of The Devil
I think BG did great on the SOTD. I bought it when it was released and was impressed, but you can tell he had a template, i.e. I would bet my guitars he listened to sound boards of Randy playing at least those three. BG is not known for fills so much and he uses them everywhere just like Randy did.

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
I meant no offense mentioning RR shrines. There are different levels of fandom and some folks are going to buy anything associated with Randy regardless because that's what makes them happy. To the collectors and rabid fans more power to you. I hit this site every few days so I must admit I'm more t...

Re: HEY FRIENDS.....
Your average Joe is not going to buy at this price point! IMHO you have to a rabid/obsessed fan to buy this, ie. have RR shrine erected some where in your home. I bought the box set mainly for the footage, and remastered audio and live stuff. I don't regret buying the box set, although I was hoping ...

Re: John Stix interview Audio
I think the audio is cool and adds to RR limited voice recordings. It's just that some of JS's questions came off to me as strange. Maybe he didn't think BOO was different than Sabbath stuff or he didn't think of RR's guitar playing as that special or different. I thought I had read every article wr...

Re: John Stix interview Audio
I was a little stuned at these statements "Do you cringe a little because it's not original enough", The guitar playing seems a bit rushed on Diary" Diary sounded more intricate than BOO and different enough from BOO to sound original/fresh to me. The playing on Diary was to me stella...

Re: Randy's Job
Yes clears things up and puts the idea of Randy's job, and puts it in context. I would assume rightly or wrongly though Randy would not have auditioned for Ozzy or at least ended up not taking the gig if he honestly prefered playing a different musical genre. I have never heard if he was personally ...

Randy's Job
I'm a little bewildered by "Randy's job" comments that I see from time to time. Those words are bandied about in a way that makes one think Ozzy & Sharon had a time clock Randy was punching at the studio or behind the stage curtain. Though she might have if she could have gotten away w...

Re: I don't buy into it!
First Plant and Page in my opinion wanted to get in bands that were different than Zep, and also I do not for a moment think "In Through the Out Door" was close to the earlier albums. I'm not sure of sales for that record but once a base is built up it has to be a real dog not to sell, sam...

Re: I don't buy into it!
I know Bob has played with some great guitarist, and that should prove my point that even playing with those big names he still never had the critical or commercial success of BOO and DOAM. Randy was in QR which was not playing to Randy's strengths. Still was he not considered the hottest guitarist ...

I don't buy into it!
I may just be bored and stiring the pot, but I don't buy into the whole Bob and Lee being major players in making BOO and DOAM the success they became. I respect them as musicians, but what did they ever do after those two albums? Sorry but those UH albums are no where close to the first two Ozzy so...

Re: So was Randy a genius, or a creative genius?
I've often wondered what made RR so special. Lots of guys have been as technically proficient. Still even so they never truely moved me as deeply as RR's music did. He may have not been a true genius as the def goes but he was at playing just the right notes in the right place with just the right fe...

Re: Guitar solos that remind you of Randy Rhoads' Style
Yes sounds like BM and RR influence. The song sucked big time, but playing was not bad. Most blatant coping of RR licks I can think of is "Never Enough" by LA Guns. Seems like C.C.D. of Poison coped some too. To me no one has sounded like RR without playing his licks.

Re: I wonder what Randy thought of Cheap Trick?
One of the reasons I brought this up is because if you listen to the opening of Ain't That a Shame on "Live at Budokan" or from this live appearence http://youtu.be/EyW1p7SpYW8 there is an acsending lick similar to the one RR did on CT.

Re: What would Randy have thought of Satch?
Satch is one of my all time favorites. I like his music overall more than Vai's work. I have not heard of Joe teaching beginners like Randy did. I guess he did at some point, but have only heard of his teaching of advanced players. I think that like Joe, Randy would have eventually made instrumental...
