Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

We'll just have to see in a couple months. If it turns out to be modded....it will be epic. If it's just a MXR D+ reissue....it will be a real bummer and yes, nothing more than money grab....well, maybe slightly more because of the custom paint job and probably pics from the photoshoot of the pedalb...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

Asthetically, someone hit the nail on the head when Kathy posted they were bluepriting the pedalboard and D+ pedals and somene suggested poka dots! For me, it's got the poka-dots which are a testament to Randy, his outfits and guitar, so I'm good with that and it has the same signature they used on ...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

well, i see Kathy supplied an update on her instagram and the MXR pedal will not be released at NAMM and not available until mid-Spring, soo...April/May?!?? Ugh. Jim Dunop communicated - “Due to unforeseen circumstances the MXR Distribution+ is delayed until mid-spring. We know a lot of you are exci...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

Tryin'! Truck trans started slipping last week on way to work. Drove home. Needs new transmission/rebuild, so with the mechanic! I'll call him tomorrow to see what's up. Dealership would not quote, but online, common problem and inherent in design and typically run $6-9000!! Likewise, they said only...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

No. Nothing yet. Just have been waiting for the new pedal to be released, which we know now is targeted at NAMM 2024 (Jan 25-28, 2024). In the meantime, I have been SWAMPED with issues and busy....new job since Jan 2023, new amp designs for my company, supporting events with the local radio station,...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

Looking up the datasheet for the IC's they outlined....looks like they HEX SCHMIT TRIGGER and Flip Flop to switch the LED on/off and flip/flop the relays on and off, so not so different than what I did, but using readily available NPN and PNP transistors at the time instead of ICs!!

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

update: MXR Distortion+, just read on the Instagram, they are targeting NAMM 2024, so showcase in January, so we have a little more waiting to do! "January 25-28, 2024 - Anaheim Convention Center" The one thing I don't understand is how the potentiometers in all the pedals go thru the peda...

Re: Randy's pedalboard - Detailed pictures thread (New Pic!)

Awesome! That's great Kathy continues to share information. xoxoxoxoxo It's great to see they used tie straps once everything wired up to try and keep everything anchored. Not sure how the MCR 10-Band EQ is secured to the pedalboard. It may be siliconed and you can see the foam spacers on the bottom...

Re: Were soundchecks recorded?

Yeah, don't know and maybe a rack effect, but from everything I've read, there was a LOT more processing going on from the PA guy(s) as the guys evolved and developed from Blizzard thru Diary. Who knows what rack effects the PA guy(s) had and at different venues, but yes, they were applying Chorus.....

Re: Were soundchecks recorded?

That's the interview where Paul talks about Randy's live tone during the summer of 1981. Paul is also trying to find out how Randy got that glassy and somewhat of a chorus tone during that time. Chuck Wiesner was the sound engineer but sadly he died a few years go, he is likely the only one that wo...

You're welcome as well as everyone.
I'm a perfectionist, if you cannot tell! lol
Always busy, so never have the time to do clips of...the pedalboard, A-B amps....hopefully I will soon, but don't hold you're breath, but hope to get something out there for people to see.

Re: Kathy states there will be an “exciting announcement” on Randy’s birthday..

Congrats on getting the wah at such good price! Excellent job on the amp as well! That's badass! No sweat. Glad I have the engineering skills and know-how to contribute, as well as Jim Dunlop taking a look at that MXR pedal and see if anything different under the hood. No word yet after 5 months. H...

Re: Kathy states there will be an “exciting announcement” on Randy’s birthday..

Spent some time with the amp today. Amazingly, Marshall must have ran out of 820 ohm resistors, as mine had a 1k in it, which in itself is uncommon to Marshall, but ran out and grab the next closest value. Issue is that there is about a 22% difference with this one component!! So, I corrected and st...

Re: Kathy states there will be an “exciting announcement” on Randy’s birthday..

I ended up pickup up an original stock 95-910511 Thomas Organ Wah locally and fairly inexpensive, so win-win! Yes, the tapers in the past were better. The Wah sounds fantastic also! It wil be replacing the modern Dunlop on the pedalboard! I also was able to purchase again, an all original 1979 100w ...

Re: Kathy states there will be an “exciting announcement” on Randy’s birthday..

Well, thanks for the heads up. People just use Dunlop synonymously with both units as they both say "CRY BABY" on the front! Looking at the schematics, the vintage pre-1982 units versus modern post-1982 units are quite different! Not a lot of difference between the vintage units, so don't ...
