Gosh he was an amazing musician

Post by Kel »

Just was doing some work at the computer and thought "I'll put on DOAM" been busy moving and all and 3 teens, lots to do -- just sharing - Man Randy was a stellar musician -- I never get tired of hearing his playing -- the outro to "Tonight" still gives me goose bumps - he played with such passion and guts - I can hear it in every note - wow

thougth Id share cuz I know you all understand

Agreed! Lately, Diary has been in the car stereo...to think they were rushed on this...that LD has a scratch for a solo, yet a corker for an outro.
They were road-tested here, and they all ramped it up several notches.
Diary's pretty fuckin' fierce as far as I'm concerned!

Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!

I'm good with either BOO or DOAM: each album has its own feel, IMO blizzard is raw and just kicks ass, diary is a masterpiece (again IMO) seriously, any Randy gets me amped. Good post, Kel!

Remember it was part 2. of The Blizzard of Ozz. There wouldn't be a part 2. without the first. But yeah, it rocks! There ain't nothing wrong with the first one either.

Randy was ahead of his time IMHO. Technically these days he would be a mediocre player. The thing about Randy and his legacy is that everything he played was so tasteful and seemed to fit perfect without being boring while still having tons of soul and fire. There are a millions of guys these days that could smoke him technically, but very few could make the magic that he did.

I don't know about the whole mediocre thing because Randy wanted to further himself, IMO if he were alive today he would have definitely advanced his knowledge and abilities… but whether he would have stayed on the scene or remained a teacher - who knows.

I honestly think he would've gone the same route as Satch and Vai 8)

By mediocre I mean if you compared his skills as they were when he died to the techno wizards of today. I see kids on youtube that would have amazed Randy if he could have seen them play, but those youtube kids with all their speed, sweeping, string skiping, etc. abilites cannot compare to the musical mind of RR. Of course he would have advanced, but his music still holds up today because of his musical mind and his fire/soul not the technical ablilites of his time.
