It's the only interview that was published while he was still alive...it hit the stands the week he died...I have 2 copies...worth having.
Re: Guitar World May 1982
First time I've read it. Never seen it before. It's a bit rough to have the heading "Pretender to the VH throne"
Re: Guitar World May 1982
"Some parts of this record make me cringe from a guitar standpoint. In fact, on Little Dolls I never got to take a real solo. What you hear on there is actually the guitar track. It's a dummy solo I laid down where I was later supposed to put a real one. But I never got time to do it. A lot of my things on Diary lack feeling. It sounds a bit ordinary to me, like just sort of play anything you can think of."
"I was thinking that one of the great things for me would be to play on other peoples' records. It would be nice to be known for playing in different areas. Ozzy Osbourne is about as heavy metal as you can get, and a lot of people don't know me for that reason. But I would like to play some light jazz things. I was never into heavy fusion music, I'm thinking more on the acoustic melodic side.

Re: Guitar World May 1982
This interview was reprinted in the June 1987 Guitar World RR Tribute edition.
My cousin bought that magazine on a family fishing trip we were on and brought a mixed tape with Crazy Train on it.
I had no idea who Randy was, but read the magazine front to back while listening to Crazy Train over and over, and that started my Randy Rhoads journey….April of ‘87 if I recall correctly.
I’m 49 now and have been playing guitar ever since, and Randy is the reason I started playing.

I've only seen the cover of that magazine in other mags. Those were all sold out decades ago.

'Tribute' album was my first exposure to RR before I hunted down the studio stuff
