From CDs to mp3s
There are lots of things I like about advancing technology but I do wonder about how disposable everything is becoming. I can still remember when I bought my first CD (circa 1985). Ask a teenager what a CD is and they might simply shrug their shoulders. Ask them what an iPod is and they can pretty much tell you everything. Personally, I need an emotional connection to the music I am listening to. Once you get absorbed into the iPod you pretty much lose all sense of where Rock N Roll came from as much as where it is going. Where do you all think Rock N Roll is headed?
To be a teacher you must never stop learning yourself...

Towards a new revolution... every so often it bcomes tecnical and soulless, and then someone comes along and kicks it in the head and brings back the true, gut-level spirit of rock 'n' roll.
In the '70's rock got bloated and the Ramones kicked it in the head and brought back the energy - they called it "punk" at the time, but if you listen to it now, it's definitely rock 'n' roll. In the middle of the New Way boom of the '80's, Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats showed everyone what rock 'n' roll is all about. Stevie Ray did the same thing with the blues at that time.
Remember when CD's first came out and a lot of people were upset because "vinyl sounds warmer"? that's the same thing that is happening with the ipod. The technology we use to listen to the music shouldn't detract in anyway from the actual music we listen to.
20 years from now, there will be a generation saying, "Remember when you got your first ipod? Kids these days just don't get it..."

I got my first CD in 1986 and I remember friends having them before that.Stiltzkin wrote:they had cd's in '85 ?![]()
