I think you shouldn´t buy a new Marshall unless you have the cash because they are all waaaay over prized imo.
A few months ago I bought a SLP59 (1993 reissue, without the effects loop) for real cheap from somebody who never used it much and it sounds awesome!
Take some time (check ebay etc.) and try to buy a used 1959HW plexi (or a vintage JMP like Randy had) for half the price!
Hence a good tube amp will last a lifetime.

its a matter of how far your willing to go for that perfect tone. the more expensive gear gets the less difference there is in tone IMO.The Flying Dutchman wrote:Yep especially the Marshall HW serie amps are ridiculous prized......
Luckily I could buy a brand new one from someone in Germany for half the prize. But I have to say that a PCB board Marshall when set up right sounds as good as a handwired.
the difference between a marshall MG and say a fender blues junior is tremendous but the difference between a marshall SLP and the handwired model is not so much...
it comes down to rolling out lots of $ just for a small boost
with all the affordable boutique alternatives it makes you wonder why marshall keep their price so high.

I heard it's like a mini plexi and should be loud enough for band practice.wareagle wrote:i didnt like the jcm as much as the slp, what about the 20 watt handwired head? is it loud enough? good tone?
Hower it won't have the headroom and balls of a 100 Watt SLP.
