If you believe that out of $150 ozzy's camp gets $130 of that you clearly no nothing about how record labels work....at best ozzy would get $75

as far as the swearing gos...dude if your gonna jump on here and be negative a p#*s people off then your gonna cop some abuse. We all know your thoughts about this box so now why don't you start a bitching thread about it and leave this on alone..seriously

I thought I specifically remembered Ozzy saying he "can't even watch all of the Randy tapes he has" because it's too painful. Come on guys, if there is tons of footage of Black Sabbath from several years before Ozzy (as well as almost every other significant rock band) then 1980-1982 surely has a lot on film too. Granted, "modern" video production was not easy or convenient, but I think there are definitely tapes upon tapes of footage that Ozzy and Sharon have.
I'm not too sure that I agree that they had to purchase anything either. That doesn't make sense to me.
Andy it is well to say your new to this board. In the knowing of how some people on these RR sites have made it there lifes work to find and seek out footage. That last bit sounded like the intro to the old Star Trek LOL! Honestly! the leads that people get on info from boards like this are chased up. People like Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldridge, Don Airey, Dave Tangye... need i list them all. They have all been asked about the concerts being filmed. Rudy made it clear in his book that he only knew of the After hours film. But low and behold what is this new Diary footage we see on this trailer.
So as far as Ozzy having tapes why would he pay for these NY Palladium films if he has enough footage of his own ?. I've always said why was the Tribute Crazy Train video full of still photos of Randy. I think the answer is obvious.

Yeah, I guess you are right about me being new on here. In all honesty I kinda forgot about Randy for awhile and then I heard about this release and got a little worked up. Hey - honestly I am really happy for all of the Randy fans, and I know if you DO buy it, it will probably be the best $150 you could spend on yourself (especially if Randy means as much to you as he does me).

I wanted to ask another question (me being new to this board) - What is the last known bootleg of Randy, and is it good quality? Also, for the folks who saw the last show, was it great? Was Randy amazing at the Knoxville gig, or what? Share the memories please! Thank you, and again sorry if I offended anyone with my negativity.

Andy no problems just take your time before you dive in. Find yourself some time to have a good look through the threads and i'm sure you'll be able to read about the fans who seen Randy in concert etc. I know i've read about a couple of people who did see the Knoxville gig. So it must be posted up here or TK. If your wanting info on bootlegs why don't you talk to the guy who posts them up here Ian 'Trigger' give him a PM. Just chill out mate and look before you leap ok.

Absolutely! In fact, I'd say Ozzy's take would be significantly less yet. Considering artists generally collect around a buck a CD, or roughly 10% at best, so claiming he's pocketing 85% ($130) of the box set is a huge stretch! Mind you, having his wife as the manager ensures a bigger percentage will go into the family coffers. Here's a couple sobering articles on music industry percentages you may find interesting:

http://truefire.com/blog/guitar-lessons ... -industry/

And I find it bit funny for people to rag on Sharon about being in it for the money... she's a manager, manager = businessperson.... she'd be a lousy manager if she wasn't in it for the money!

I believe it's "butters" at tk who saw randys last show, I think he post here once In awhile also

I think the 2-9-82 kalamazoo show is the last boot we have, and IMO it is the best sounding (after some touch ups) diary show we have

Wow...CANNOT get over the negativity in this thread!! Yes, it is Sharon's job to think of ways to generate revenue. Some of you act like that a bad thing. The idea that this was some kind of plan twenty years in the making is laughable at best. Acting like Ozzy and/or Sharon don't care about Randy as a human being and just view him as a money maker is stupid stupid stupid. How many people are hard care RR fans? There's probably like 100 of us on this site & tk. You really think Sharon ( or anyone) is gonna get rich off that market? Hahahahaha!!

Go ahead, ask 20 random people the next time you're at the mall who Randy Rhoads is. I'd honestly be surprised if you got even one yes. Now ask about Ozzy. More than half easy. In other words, it's Ozzy's name selling this box set, the fact that they give so much time & attention to Randy is GREAT, it gives Randy the recognition we all know he deserves, but in no way is it going to "drive up sales".

I agree it'd be nice if we could just buy the DVD. But as someone already pointed out, if you were given the opportunity a year or so back to purchase a DVD featuring several never before seen Randy clips, would you buy it for $150? You're damn right you would! Some of you probably don't remember, but the Texas soundcheck footage was bought on ebay for $50. $50 for just a few minutes of a SOUNDCHECK featuring a mostly silhouetted Randy Rhoads. And ya know what? It was worth every penny. (Thanks again to Donnie @ tk and everyone else who had a hand in buying it & sharing it with the world).

If ya wanna buy it, buy it. If ya don't, don't. But don't come on here an piss & moan & bitch & complain. After all these years we're FINALLY gonna see new Randy footage...and yes, we're gonna have to pay for it. Deal with it.

Axeman, that is Don Airey on the trailer for the Dakota doc, commenting on Ozzy weeping. Jake was approached to be interviewed, but respectfully declined. That day wasn't easy for anyone, but his weight may be the heaviest.
Whenever I put on Blizzard or Diary, what a wonderful, delicate furious beast.... I MISS you, man!
