Agreed! I saw him 29 years ago last night. Omni. I remember I just could NOT get over how much better his playing was than on the albums. Not to mention how effortless he made it look...

Yeah that really sucks, I badly wanted to hear those solos. However, I'll take the footage, assuming it really is something that we've never seen before, over the extended versions.

Does anyone know if this footage has sound or not?

Here's a dilemma my brothers... Do we pre-order this baby and get it in the mail a couple of days after May 31st, or do we wait, stroll down to Best Buy ON the morning of May 31st and watch it immediately?

I was scanning through the info too frantically to notice the "2-CD Set" part! Sure hope that's the case!!!

I really doubt it'll show up in stores any sooner where I live, so I ordered online.

I shouldnt say this publicly, but I'm gonna do whatever I can do see it even before the official release. For me its a no-brainer. This is what Ive wanted to see for years and now Im pumped. I'm not going to wait one minute more than I need to.

I figure I'll pick it up at a local shop where I have a few contacts.

from what it looks like the doc will have "after hours" and "ET" stuff snippets during the interviews + stories.

As far as this Palladium show, man, i'm really really hoping for the best and pray its not "garbage". My instincts say it will probably be like "C" quality bootleg, if that, but i'm really hoping we get a word on someone from the Osbourne camp on what the quality of this will be.

Yes, it's still a 2-cd set, but the first cd has lost all 3 bonustracks!
Why did they leave out these?

And why no Southampton show, neither the livetracks from "Mr. Crowley" EP and other b-sides?
We know they have them...
They could easily have added a second disc of BOO.

They are asking $ 150,00 or € 150.00 (and that's a lot more than $ 150.00!) for an incomplete legacy?!

Don't know if this is the same article but check this out. It's getting pretty exciting if this article is true about the footage and only 2 more months to wait(crossing fingers)

ok...so i'm reading the article and am looking at this:

This new “Thirty Years After The Blizzard”DVD chronicles Ozzy's years with Randy Rhoads features previously unseen footage of Ozzy and Randy filmed in 1981 & 1982; it incorporates rare archival photos and films; along with new and revelatory interviews with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Lemmy (Motörhead), Steve Vai, Nikki Sixx, Rob Halford, Zakk Wylde, Bill Ward and more. The DVD also contains over 70 minutes of additional rare live performancesand interviews; included is the premiere of more than 30 minutes of newly-discovered never-bootlegged footage of Ozzy and Randy from the Blizzard of Ozz tour shot from the front of the stage at New York's fabled Palladium on May 2, 1981. This new feature is a must-see for aficionados of Ozzy's epic release, Blizzard of Ozz and its pivotal effect on rock & roll history.

so the doc and interviews are whats 70 minutes...not the show. And the Palladium footage only states its 30 minutes. And what does "newly-discovered, never-bootlegged" footage mean anyways?
does that mean its "bootleg" quality, but never been shown? Or would it be a pro-shot (wishing on a star here....) footage that has never been shown around? I'm not quite understanding what that exactly means?

Im taking it to mean that it hasnt made the bootleg rounds, so at least the Osbourne camp thinks its something that nobody has ever seen, and Zakk seemed to think the same. I have hope that this is new to us more because I think Zakk would know, he's as much a fan as the rest of us.

As far as the extended tracks, I cant see anything on there that hints at them being included. Maybe $haron is saving them for next year.

Hmmm...a lot of changing information to think about and digest.

My sincerest wishes are since this is about the music first, let's get the audio right - Blizzard of Ozz remastered to its original form, then add the bonus tracks - both versions / mixes (B-side & other) of You Looking at Me Looking at You, the alternate mixes of No Bone Movies and Steal Away (The Night), and then the surprises included - longer version of Revelation (Mother Earth), Goodbye to Romance Guitar Mix, lost Randy Rhoads guitar solo - and possibly some studio outtakes of Randy like on Tribute's Dee.

Then remaster Diary of a Madman to its original form, adding in bonus material - particularly extended mixes of You Can't Kill Rock and Roll, Tonight, and the alternate mix of the title track (which interviews reveal some incredible performances done by the vocal choir not quite being captured in the final mix). Then look at some more studio outtakes of Randy recording certain performances, and possibly look at including the 20 minute album "montage" that was released to publicize the album.

Next, release the unedited, uncut versions of the professionally recorded live shows - Cleveland, Montreal, and Southampton, but especially the last two since Cleveland was used for Tribute. Even though the vocal performances are not the tops, an energy and vibe exists on these original versions that I LOVE listening to over the redone Tribute album. The band was so tight and Randy's tone was so hot - and I actually liked the mix of them better than Tribute. A live CD, one each with BOO & DOAM would kill.

Finally, tackle the footage and DVD - start off with the Blizzard retrospective and for good measure talk about Diary, too. Then give us Grade A versions in their entirety of After Hours, the new unreleased Palladium footage, and the Entertainment Tonight DOAM rehearsal footage. Any other snippets or rareties beyond these would be welcomed also - including various interviews, etc., included in the retrospective part of the DVD. A final hope would be a second DVD of PM's documentary to be included.

Package it all up handsomely as a tribute to Randy Rhoads, putting both his and Ozzy's name on the box (like Tribute)...call it Encore! (or something like that), as it really is bringing all this music back with footage and rareties of Ozzy's legacy with Randy to take another bow before a world audience after all these years. I would personally love to see another great concert shot of Oz and Randy together (like Tribute) on the box set cover, in a black and white memorial kind of way...make it classy.

So there...that is how I think this could be done with class and done well. Yes, rare demo tape and other performances could make things more interesting, but only for the diehards like us. For now, it would be great to get the best of what Ozzy has with his time with Randy that would be a show piece of sorts and raise the bar when it comes to legacy box sets and reissues. Perhaps they will reach out to me and bring me on board to coordinate finalizing this project?!!

Until then mates, sit tight and see what we get. Then be thankful. If it's not all it's hoped to be, perhaps we'll get more someday.

Here you can find some of the livetracks from the missing Southampton show:

It's a rare japanese release, never released on cd, and out of print.

I had a promo listing for the 2002 butchered edition that said "You said it all" would be on there, but never materialized. YSIA is on the Crazy Babies ZSK 1345 CD. It seems pretty cheap that the Diary outtakes and "Revelation Mother Earth" extended seemed to disappear like the rumored South Hampton (I didn't see that one) like they (she) are teasing us. No Randy poster? Mini Randy Guitar? It looks like it's all about Ozzy. The box doesn't even have the original Ozzy Osbourne logo, BOO or DOAM on it. Way to celebrate Randy's life by cutting him out. Why not the B-sides, live EP tracks and whatever concerts you have in the vaults?

The first show at NY's Palladium didn't have a guitar solo. Also, You Looking at me, looking at you wasn't from the EP, it was a B side to Crazy Train. I'm really hoping for the 2 complete ET/Diary rehearsal footage. Sigh...

Thats why i was hoping for and would hope would materialize some day. The person video'ing for ET though probably only took a shot or two, most likely, as we've seen.
I just have a strong suspicion that this Palladium footage is going to be garbage. I hope i'm wrong. I Like how it went from a show down to 30 minutes. Sheez.
Also...the DVD is the only thing that makes this of interest. They're really strong-arming people to get it by forcing them to buy the box-set. I don't want a dumb poster...a coffee table book...or any of the overly expensive vinyl....or a stupid cubic zircona replica Ozzy chain. Awful how they're making you do this.
