i have purchashed one of these chinese "replicas" i would not recomend u or anyone buy one .. 1 u need a fret level..2. all electronics should be replaced..3. hardware replce it 4. even after all this u will not get the sound we all love "the Gibson sound".. I agreee the necks feel plastic and they weigh a ton, im thinking glue board ? i put a dimarzio sd in mine leveled the board and use it sparingly..would never sell to anyone ..just an embarassment if ur a respectable player..but???

They use agathis a lot in the orient, I had a Strat made of agathis and it was tremendously heavy... that could be what they used?

Just remember they're gonna tell you what you wanna hear. I've seen a black beauty Chester and it was not good. And yes, they do say Gibson on the headstock...just not on their website. Get a Burny! Nice guitars and affordable

A poor quality guitar will always play and sound like a poor quality guitar. As another poster said, to even make these guitars somewhat useful you have to level the frets, change the electronics etc. So you pay 300 bucks for a guitar, spend 150 bucks on fret work, 150 on pickups and and electronics and you still end up having 600 bucks in a crap guitar. Take that money and buy a quality used guitar.. Just my opinion though..

i dont see any of you trying to find a replica that is not $6000

i cant afford a $6000 guitar it would take me 9 mounths to save up to that and i am 16

if you find a good replica that sounds good and does not go past $6000 i will shut up

LoL Seems that part of the problem in your efforts to communicate, RWND, is that you're trying to argue your point with Rhoads aficianados that have been enjoying/obssessed for 2ce your lifetime. I bet that sometimes you would find more productivity by asking for input rather than arguing to support your idea against others personal preferences. As far as the replicas, I would seriously check out the links provided to you in this thread, with age and experience that some are willing to share could help you land a helluva deal! I wish you the best, young man!

If you dont need a white one, you can get old Gibson Customs from that era for around 1500-2000, Ive noticed that white ones that have aged are more expensive than the other finishes offered. A white, black, wine or sunburst will sound the same and you said that you wanted Randy's tone so they will give you that

Yep.. Not at all trying to be hard on you RWND. I think its awesome that you only being 16 are so into Randy. However, ive been playing guitar longer than you have been alive :) Its important to have a good playing instrument when furthering your skills as a guitar player.. That does not mean you have to spend a ton of money to do it. Not saying you should go out and spend thousands on a guitar. Only suggesting that buying a 300 dollar piece of junk that LOOKS like Randy's guitar and putting 100 dollars worth of pickups in it may not be the best move. You can find tons of quality guitars in the 400-600 range that play and sound very good.

I tell the same things to my friends who ask about beginner guitars for their kids.. More often than not they spend 150 bucks on an unplayable beginner guitar and it only frustrates the player. Not all kids will stick with it. Its so much easier to learn and get better on a good playing instrument. Just my opinion though!
