That interview is nothing new, but anyone who bullshits can never tell the same story twice... It's funny how Bob sticks to the same story.

"I really appreciate the fans acknowledging me in that way, because we were a real band. Those albums were made by the four of us. It happened 30 years ago, it took four people, and we did it together." Amen

Just one rokket, and I will offer you the chance to to set me straight.

Bob has been vilifying Sharon Osbourne for thirty years. She is to blame for EVERYTHING. But, as Bob states, she wasn't around at the beginning. His dealings were with Don Arden. Whatever deal he cut for BOO was not with Sharon.
But it his her fault. Everything is her fault. I am not a fan of Sharon BTW. At all. Has Bob EVER said 'I, myself, made some poor business decisions, and need to accept at least some of the blame for getting ripped off.

He didn't have a lawyer even look at Ozzy's solo contract with CBS. Brave? Naive?

Will I read the interview? No! Same old, same old - 'I am a victim'.

Thats quite right, in the beginning his dealings were with Don Arden, and Don and Jet records were successfully sued over their part. As far as the issues concerning BOO, it was dealt with. Bob and Lee won their case in the High Court London.

The mess that came next was when Sharon "took over", and what happened from that point on was Sharon's doing, no one elses. When Sharon "took over" the old contracts with Don and Jet were no longer valid. New contracts had to be drawn up as Sharon is now the "Manager" and "Jet Records" obviously the "Company".

And this is where the contract and other problems all stem from........."Yes the new contracts are being drawn up, but hey in the mean time we need to keep recording the next album (Diary) the record company needs new product, we can't stop now. Everything will be fine, we're on a roll"....well....not many options here, perhaps Bob had too much trust invested, didn't have a reason as yet, not to trust Sharon or Jet, naive? sure ok, it can be looked at like that.

I guess he could have downed tools, so to speak, and disrupted everything and everyone and said "right, thats it, I'm not playing a single note or writing a single word until I see the cash I'm owed so far from the old contract and until I get a lawyer to look at the new contract when it's finished being drawn up, so until then if anyone wants me, I'll be in my hotel room". Somehow i don't think that was an option.....Naive? or trying to make the best from a situation that is not ideal, but reasonable for everyone involved?

But lets say Bob was too trusting and naive, ok, but does that negate the fact that Sharon was not truthful, dishonest, and underhanded?. Whether Bob was naive or not, doesn't make what Sharon did right.

So then what did she do??? delay, excuse, delay, excuse, delay,delay....until "Diary" had been finished, the US tour planned, Tommy and Rudy are available, then, while there's still no signed contracts, call Bob at his hotel room and say, "You and Lee are out of the band"...........and hang up.

When Sharon "took over" the old contracts with Don and Jet were no longer valid.

Maybe you can explain how a written contract can become void merely by the presence of Sharon Osbourne?

These are the details that Bob glosses over - time and again.

Did he have a signed contract or not?

'You work for me" - Lee Kerslake

Tools down WAS an option.

The original contract was with Don Arden and Jet Records. There had to be a new contract because Sharon took over officially as the "Manager", handling "the band".....her name wasn't on the original contract, she wasn't involved.

Bob had a signed contract with Don and Jet, the original one yes, thats why Bob and Lee were successful with that lawsuit.

Downing tools was an option, yes, but not a considerate or fair one to anyone in the band, or the record company.

"You work for me" - Lee Kerslake.

Correct statement when you are in a "band". As a band, the manager works for you, not the other way around. Because even though the manager tends to make most of the decisions, the final say rests with the "Band"........concerning everything from shows and tours, to publicity and merch.

Once you cease to be a "band" and you are a "solo" artist, the manager works for the "solo" artist, all the decisions rest with the manager and the "solo" artist, the rest of the band are "hired" musicians, and have no say in anything at all. They do as they are told.

Sharon knew the ONLY way to have complete control over Ozzy and finances, was to have him as a solo artist. There's no other way to do it.

Also when you are a "band" the profits are split reasonably equally with each member. When you are a "solo" artist, you are taking home 100% of the profits.

He DID get payed. Correct?

There HAD to be a new contract? Why? Maybe you explain the legal details behind that comment.

A manager and the record company are not one in the same - they are two separate parties - i.e. Kiss. Casablanca was the label, Bill Aucoin was the manager.

Did he get paid from what was owed to him in regards to BOO? They won that court case, and got their pay that was owed BUT....the on going royalties were suppose to be handled by Sharon when she officially took over.........she didn't pass those on, and was suppose to. But they don't have a contract with Sharon, handy don't you think.

Bills's name is still on the contracts as the manager, along with the members of the band, and the record company. If any of that changes, you gotta have a new contract. When Bill was "let go" they had to have a new management contract...I believe Simmons took over the "management role" although I'm not sure.

OZZY OSBOURNE-BLIZZARD OF OZZ PRESS RELEASE 1980

Heavy metal fans the world over waited with baited breath for news of their hero, Ozzy Osbourne, ever since his departure from Black Sabbath.

On September 12, 1980, the long wait ended when Ozzy, with his new band, Blizzard of Ozz, commenced a massive UK tour. Any fears that Ozzy would not be able to equal the success he achieved with Sabbath were allayed with the opening of the tour in Glasgow. The press and fans alike were unanimous in their support of Ozzy.

"The perennially popular Ozzy Osbourne is back more with a bang than a whimper. The king is back and this time his crown looks firmly lodged indeed." Dante Bonutto--Record

"Not only is Ozzy Osbourne back in business, but he's better than ever." Steve Brown--Musicians Only.

"Sabs-like to be sure, but faster more furious and updated for the discerning 1980 cranium cracker." Geoff Barton-Sounds.

Similarly the band's debut album, Blizzard of Ozz, received rave reviews, going straight into the charts at Number 7. Steve Gett of Melody Maker wrote, "Their debut album is a killer. Oz has planned his latest onslaught with diligence."

During the eleven years with Black Sabbath, Ozzy's reputation as a wild man and hell raiser reached legendary proportions. But after eight studio albums and many world tours, Ozzy and Sabbath parted company when he realized that "we had come to a crossroads in musical direction."

He azdmits that getting the right band together was not easy. "The worst thing was auditioning people. I'd never done it before; I mean, how do you tell a bloke he can't play?"

Initailly, Ozzy went to America to look for musicians. ("Britain was still into punk and I thought that I wouldn't find the right musicians here.") After countless auditions, he got the feeling he was wrong, and then he found guitarist, Randy Rhoads.

"I'd given up hope of finding anyone when someone suggested Randy to me. He's from L.A. and played with a band called Quiet Riot. He was a guitar teacher at a local college when I asked him to join the band."

Randy is already being hailed as the newest guitar hero, receiving comments such as, "In guitarist Randy Rhoads, Ozzy has struck gold, and 24-carat at that...He is destined to become a real favorite with audiences."

Ozzy returned to London and bumped into ex-Rainbow bassist, Bob Daisley, at a gig. Ironically, when he left Rainbow, after having been with them for eighteen months, Bob had planned to form a band with vocalist Ronnie Die, but for one reasoner another it never happened, and Dio later went on to replace Ozzy in Sabbath.

Finding a drummer proved to be the most difficult job. Countless people were heard, some lasted a few days, but nobody was right. Ozzy explains: "I'd reached the point when I was going to give up looking and just use session drummers. Lee was going to be positively the last audition." As it turned out, Lee Kerslake proved to be perfect.

Lee, of course, did not have to prove that he was a good drummer, he'd already done that with eight years with Uriah Heep and eleven albums. When he left Heep in '79 he formed his own band, Blind Ambition, which is still In existence.

Ozzy Osbourne and Blizzard of Ozz now have to prove themselves in America where they will tour in early '81. Judging by the response they have already received on their home territory, they've got nothing to worry about.

Yup, had a 'contract' with Don Arden, who SOLD it to his daughter.

When KISS and Aucoin parted ways, that did not change the deal they had with Polygram.

Not sure of the relevance of the press release here, from a fourth party PR firm, located in LA. Let me know what I am missing, and no, I am not being a smart ass.

My point? I don't believe there was a signed contract with Don Arden.

Guitaridol, this thread started as both an unwarranted shot at Rudy Sarzo for 'misleading' people about his presence at the accident scene, as well as a piece of low hanging fruit that was in my opinion, 'begging for a rebuttal'.

We have discussed all this before. I believe Mr. Daisley has been misleading the public as to WHO was the main culprit in his fleecing. I believe I have offered enough evidence to suggest that both Don and Dave Arden are just as responsible for what happened. Bob's well-rehearsed telling of the story rarely, if ever mentions Don Arden.

I believe it is misleading. That is where this thread started.

And if Bob did get paid, as many here have confirmed, then what the f**k is he still bitching about?

The fact that Bob has spilled his story again suggests that Mr Daisley has NOT let sleeping dogs lie.
