Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
I think I gotta go with the new one. Tommy Aldridge said he had a box full of tapes that were better than Tribute years ago after Tribute was released. They should put some more out.
Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
I agree..the new live CD just sounds so much more "Live" than tribute and the overall sound just has a lot more balls to it. Maybe it's because Tribute has that obvious Ozzy re-doing his vocals in the studio thing.

Just different era's of production. Tribute was that 1980's sound of lots of reverb and all around "arena" sound, whereas today's production is more tight and in the box (overly compressed), so that kind of philosophy kind of carried over to the new live album.
Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
I think Randy's performance seems a little more adventuress on this one.

I also think Randy is taking more chances on this one. On some songs a fill here and there do not work as well as on different versions I have heard. That being said overall I think the (New Live) is much more aggresive, and off the cuff sounding than is "Tribute".

Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
If I may... I do enjoy this album but..... I would have to say there are a few issues, just some minor ones, though. I hope no one cares too much on some of the critique.
I think the thing that has bugged me the most is the audience noise. It just sounds fake or added in after words. I also hate some of the inconsistencies in terms of some of the songs, meaning that not all of the material from this album is from one show. Also, Randy seems to have missed a lost of artificial harmonics. There are a lots of examples were he did not fully hit them or missed them completely. Which to me, is a great thing because I learned that Randy was not a perfect player and he made mistakes . I used to get so frustrated at my playing because it seemed he never messed up.
One thing that I miss is the very first lick on "I Don't Know" that lick is normally more aggressive. This one just sounded like he was going through the motion. However the solo on that song is probably the best I had heard him play. I really enjoy it. And the tone on this album is awesome.
Some one mention that this show sounds like the Rhode Island boot, I 2nd that. I think that bootleg dates this show as a lot of it sounds like Rhode Island. I am not saying this show is Rhode Island just that it sounds similar.

Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
Does anyone know why the Ozzy camp chose the Cleveland show for the Tribute LP back in 87'? Did they (the producers, Ozzy, ect.) listen to several different shows and agree that the Cleveland gig showcased Randy the best? Just curious as to WHY Cleveland and not a different gig?

Its Bob & Lee on Mr.C,Revelation (sans drumsolo) Steal away, Suicide & the Sabbath tracks...you could hear AS I pointed out on Mr.Crowley & Suicide in the Trailer that Alot were saying were Montreal....
The Snare rolls were LEE 100% & on Suicide it was Bob WWho Plays w/a Pick
Rudy uses his fingers....& Tommy uses HELLA Double Bass those are the Dead Giveaways that & the Keyboard intro on Mr.C!

Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
what happend to the "certain conversations in the studio and another film on randy"???????
Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
As far as the cd having songs from different shows. 99.9% of live discs fro other bands are from different shows. Tribute being one of them.

Re: its so much better than TRIBUTE!!!
Tito, my only guess would be that at one point, Sharon and Bob were in some sort of negotiations. He did mention this in that Bravewords interview from last month:
"For the 30th anniversary, why not do a deal and release all this stuff. But they didn't want to do it. All Sharon wanted to do was to buy everything for a measly sum and then release it. I said I am not handing it over to you to make a fortune."
So the studio chatter and such was obviously Bob's grail material and if there was more footage, it was from the Mach I lineup, but I tend to think the Palladium and New Mexico footage is most likely what she meant by two shows.
