Tim Howard is a fantastic goalie, one of the best in the competition. Everyone always talks about Iker Casillas....but I really think Julio Cesar and Time Howard are just a bit better!

Well I think every player has something like that once or twice throughout their whole career. He was very unlucky it happened right now. He had some good resque's in the second haff though. I think he will play the next match though.

I remember watching a football match on TV from Sowetto in the early 2000's before all these plastic trumpets! and though it was part of a Doc' about life in south Africa what I remember mostly was that when a goal was scored what they did wasn't to cheer loudly! they all stood up and clapped!!!!!!!
It was sweet and very nice to see and I really wanted to see some of that this time but cheering and emotions AND TRUMPETS have joined the celebrations.

Yeah i have to agree, its just noise... its not as bad as the never ending drumming you get at some games though. To be honest im already getting a bit fed up with the world cup. The games are a bit slow paced, (everytime the ball goes out of touch or someone falls over... = waiting etc.), England are playing uninspired football, and everytime i turn on the tv a reporter is pointing his camera at impoverished african children for yet another condescending report...

On the up side the stubborn Germans are playing as i type, and very good football indeed :D

PS. Im interested to hear what people think about Heskey??? Im quite a fan of what he brings to a game but i thought he was useless against the USA. He seemed to spend half his time offside and the other half running into americans... :?

LOL re Heskey; I think he has a role and Capello can see his qualities. He can be cumbersome yes, but I think he is quite a dark Horse and like you say, brings something positive.

The Germans were great but jeez; they dive all over the show! LMAO

Everyone dives. I'm already pretty used to it.

The Germans are a lot better than I thought they'd be. I'd love to see them play England or the US!

yes everyone! but- some more than others :)...but I just hate it so much! You watch the Rugby teams and they play on with so much going against them physically!

I wish the refs would just say (and have the power with the medics) to say to someone rolling around (like a pusscake) "Oh you really are hurt, I am recommending you sit out two games"

LMAO, I agree about the whole sitting out thing.

The ref today in the Germany Australia game really cracked down on Oziel/Ozeil for diving. I don't think that was particularly bad though. I saw a lot worse in other games. At least he didn't roll around holding his face despite being kicked in the legs.

LOL

In one of the qualifiers, I can't remember who it was, but he dived to the floor in unbearable pain and then with his hand over his eyes like a little kid made a gap in his hand to see if he was getting attention. It was so funny!
