Were many photos taken of the Knoxville show (3/18/82)?

I didn't realize he was wearing that very shirt during the Texas soundcheck! It does appear to be yellow then.
As for wearing it often, it's possible that it was a favorite, comfortable shirt. I do that as well, however it might be that he didn't have many street clothes with him. I can't imagine they were carrying a huge amount of clothes on the bus. During tours if they don't get washed frequently enough, they might have to wear them more than once. Just a thought.
I read that passage in Ozzy's book about the Gibson shirt being there at the scene. I'm wondering why he described it as spooky. After all it was an accident that had just happened. He doesn't mention Randy nearly enough in his book, though he does say some nice things. Not very many photos either, but better than nothing.

Gus,
Speaking of Don Airey, this interview was conducted I believe in 2002. I would imagine his segment for the film is probably this times ten.

I can understand Ozzy being some what over exaggerating about the state of the bus. But as far as the t-shirt goes, i think that would be something that would stick in your mind. I think it would be weird to see that being the only item in that garage that wasn't burnt etc. Plus if Randy's brother in law read his book and said "what aload of bolloxs i never seen that shirt". So why mention it, plus it is a very hard subject for him to talk about. He has never been back to the cemetry since his death. He says he will go back one day but it must be too upsetting for him.whoopiecat wrote:Thanks for sharing that, GI...I don't mean to take a crap on what you posted. I used to love Ozzy...it's just sad what he has become.
"I didn't think there was still much interest in Randy, but let me weave you a tale of how I found a piece of his favorite Tshirt that was burned/ torn from his body."
WTF....

Exactly how could that possibly happen? The garage was decimated, yet somehow just the logo of the tshirt survives the conflagration?
If anyone has read the interview with Don a couple of posts up, one of the investigators told him: "If it's any comfort, Son...this was no accident."
So again, even though he's Ozzy, I don't see investigators allowing him or someone who isn't Randy's blood relative into the site, not only considering Ozzy's fragile state of mind at that point, but the fact that the structure was pretty unsound from the pictures and video we have seen.
Also, allegedly the bus was pulled away from the mansion due to the ensuing fire...perhaps the investigators returned it to the original position to reconstruct the accident, which then it is....well, not a crime scene, but an area cordoned off to people who aren't officials or owners of the property.
Perhaps I'm giving the officials too much credit, as hadn't someone said during the whole Zeus debacle over the summer that the bus was looted?
So maybe Oz was there, but why? What would the brother in law need to see? Is this Kathy's husband that's referred to, I'm guessing?
I hate to bring this one up, but the three of them had to be identified by dental and jewelry. The comments made by the coroner would lead one to believe the shirt would have been obliterated, given his descriptions of Randy's remains.
If, (and it's a pretty big IF), the piece of shirt was there, would anyone want to pick up a piece of tshirt with their friends blood and possibly his skin still on it? I'd leave it alone, walk away and do my best to shut it from my mind.
If I've gone too far here, I do apologize...I stick by sensationalism on the Osbourne's part. What can the brother-in law say really? What could the Rhoads family do about what Sharon had wrote about her tryst with Randy?
The Osbournes have done a stellar job of shutting up anyone who has ever worked for them. I've always wondered why their affadavits of that day, as well as Wanda's and Rudy's were made public, where Don's, Jake's and Tommy's weren't.
Don and Jake actually saw all of it unfold, as well as Wanda....Oz, Sharon and Rudy were asleep....so again, wtf?
Lastly, this past summer, there was a lengthy article posted on Paul and Ed's FB page about Randy's grave entitled 'Colossus of Rhoads', or something to that effect. The folks who keep the grounds at Mountain View spoke of the upkeep of his grave, the folks who visit it, and the gatherings on the anniversaries.
Could be complete bullshit, but these folks claim that Ozzy does indeed visit Randy. He shows up in a non-descript rental, spends some time there alone, then leaves. The workers have never approached him, for obvious reasons.
Ed, if you read this, do you know the article I speak of? If so, is there any way to retrieve it and repost here, or to the FB page?
Again, I'm not looking for argument, or prove I'm right, just a different perspective, I suppose.
Again, my sincerest apologies if I've struck a nerve.
Tom

Tom we can all speculate and presume what is true and what is prefabricated bullshit. I'm not one to get all worked up over something like this i simply read Ozzy's book and past on the info. But i have just had an email from Frank Santacruz this is what he had to say.
Hi Shaun. Long time, eh? reason for the note is that i was reading the thread on knoxville where the subject of Randys t shirt came up. So i thought i'd respond to you. The story is legit..Richard (Randy's brother in law) told me that Randy was wearing that Gibson t shirt in the wreck. He was sent by the family to identify Randys remains. my 2 cents.
cheers,
Frank.

Shaun,
Understood. Now I feel like a jerk that Frank and Richard got involved in this
I wasn't really looking to bring up painful memories or hurt anyone's feelings, as I'm not like that. Really.
It just seemed impossible to me, and I truly felt that the story was being stretched for the sake of the book.
Not that he reads this stuff, but my apologies to Ozzy for basically calling him a liar.
My apoligies to you, Frank, for having to chime in on this lousy subject.
Lastly my apologies to anyone who may have been angered or hurt by what I've written.
Especially you, Shaun...you were only relaying what you had read. I suppose I should have left it alone, instead of choosing to run off at the mouth/ keyboard.
I went way off the topic of the Knoxville pics and let my emotions get the best of me. If admin feels the need to shit-can anything I've written, I'll leave it up to them...I've erased enough of my post history here this past spring over the trailer situation.
I guess Ozzy's story now finds a place with Bernie's tale of Randy's chip pan, and Don's when the band took pics of Randy's guitars before they were packed away and sent back to his folks.
I'm sorry, folks....
Tom

Hey Tom, no need to feel sorry about anything. You made comments based on the info you had available. Ozzy's description of the bus being folded "like a boomerang" is a bit inaccurate, so why not everything else? Frank didn't "have to" chime in, he simply had information that you didn't and wanted to share it with you to clarify. Most of us don't have Frank's connection to Randy, so he will always know stuff we don't.
We are here to discuss Randy, and that's all that was done here, no worries, y'know?

Hey Tom,
That Don Airey interview is great. With so many interviews done for the doco there's going to be some heavy editing. I hope that the full versions with true 'insiders' (Airey, Kathy, Mertons, McNair and several others) are turned into bonus DVD discs if they can't be included in full. But yeah, it'd be great if Don's makes it through to the final cut fairly intact. Not in a morbid way re the crash, but to add some clarity, and also for more funny stories about Randy!
