Ultimate Rhoads

I dont know how many here are aware of the Diamond Darrell days, but Im sure that we all know some about the Daimebag Darrell days. For those who know both, which of the two eras do you feel were best for Darrell? Who do you perfer, Diamond or Dimebag?

Has anyone heard any of these early Pantera releases?

Diamond does wonderful he has a good tone and good solos. but his riffs cant really compare to his riffs as Dimebag. Dimebag had great riffs but his solos didnt interest me as much as Diamonds did

I dig them both.

Diamond had more of a Van Halenesque(+ some Rhoads ) influence
while Dimebag was more of a Slayer/Metallica guy
Did you know that Dimebag once was offered the leadguitar position
in Megadeth? This was 1990(possibly '89) before Dave recruited
Marty Friedman. However, Dime wouldn't join without his brother
on drums but Dave had already hired Nick Menza, so there was no
Dime in Megadeth. We got Cowboys From Hell instead

I prefer Diamond, I'm not really into the really heavy stuff so much, some of it's cool.

yea i read about that in a guitar mag...dave was talking about it. I think that if he had joined Megadeth the line-up, and any albums they would have put out, would have been awsome. I think that joining Mustaine would have kept Darrell more "Classic Metal" and not so much 90s Metal that i dont really dig.

hey, i have panteras first (or second not sure) album on my computer, metal magic... its alright i guess as far as amateur bands go, if your interested pm me.

i prefer my friend Darrell. And I miss him very, very much.

All I know is this guy had an energy about him and it's there on everything I've seen on him. He was secure with his own abilities and that seems to show in most of his work. The senseless tragedy that befell him is still hard for me to fathom. Fuck Phil Anselmo!

He also had one of the wickedest guitar tones in metal! (Randal RG100es!)
