Favourite Tone

Post by Supernaut »

Tell us what your favourite guitar tones are! I'll do bass tones as well because I pay attention to them too!

guitar:
Randy (of course)
Tony Iommi
Jake E. Lee
Ross The Boss
Eddie Van Halen
Eric Clapton
Joe Satriani

bass:
Geezer Butler (played through the broken amp on the first 2 albums)
Gene Simmons (love the low throaty tone)
Cliff Burton (who else thought of muff and wah on bass?)

Randy Rhoads has the best tone i've ever heard on Mr Crowley off the Mr Crowley E.P.

Ian Bairnson's (from The Alan Parsons Project) tone is also one of my favourates.

The guys in Def Leppard each have very recognisable guitar tone.

KK Downing and Glenn Tipton have very cool tone on some of the more recent albums.

Dave 'the snake' Sabo
Ace Frehley
Jake E. Lee
Tony Iommi.

What are your least favourate guitar tones? Mine's probably Zakk's with all the Wah and Chorus.

I like Priest's tone from the British Steel era...

Warren Di Martini from Invasion of Your Privacy

John Sykes from Thin Lizzy's Thunder and Lightning and the first Blue Murder record...

"Fast" Eddie Clark from the first Fastway record...

I forgot Mick Mars!

Dr. Feelgood has an incredible guitar tone on the entire disc... Mick is a very underrated player and his done kills!
