I really like the playing of Candy Dulfer and of course, John Coltrane.

would agree with paul. Billy Joel also often has some sax on his tunes, i think i remember New York State of Mind having a good solo 
there is a busker who plays saxophone in my town centre, its a refreshing change from the endless acoustics.
