Favorite Bass Players.......

Who are your favorites???
Mine:
RUDY SARZO...for obvious reasons. To me, no one could have been such a PERFECT match for Randy Rhoads. I was so lucky and privileged to have seen them together during the 1981 "Blizzard' tour. Absolutely incredible. Sarzo was so aggressive and so physical...THE perfect compliment to Randy's viruosity. That wicked of a guitarist/bassist combination was something to behold........I was truly one of the fortunate ones who did.
GEDDY LEE...Truly a "bassplayer's bassplayer". This guy made ME want to become a bassplayer. Period. For me, through his music and playing, a passion was born that is with me some 30 years later. I will always love him for that. Way early on, he was my "teacher". I will always be grateful.....
There are many, many more.....but these are the two guys that make my blood boil the absolute HOTTEST.

Sorry, but Vai and Sheehan were light years beyond Randy and Rudy. The only duo close to Vai and Sheehan would be Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan.
I'll never understand why people like Rudy Sarzo so much. He played in QR and Ozzy with Randy, sure, but so what? Bob Daisley wrote the basslines, all Rudy had to do was play them. In QR, Kelly and Randy wrote the basslines and then Rudy simply had to cover them.
Rudy is a hired gun who plays other peoples music From QR to Whitesnake to Dio.

All I can say is that one needed to see Rhoads and Sarzo together during their time with Osbourne.......had you done so, your impression of him would probably be different. But honestly, comparing he and Randy Rhoads to any other guitar/bassist combinations is such apples and oranges. It's always in the eyes of the beholder. Also, I do understand how he has been labeled as a "hired gun" as you would say. I think things would have been different for him, career wise, had Randy lived.......

I actually really like Rudy's playing.
Steve Harris is my favourate though, such an amazing songwritter and great to watch on stage.
Geezer Butler is also one of my favourates. Victor Wooten (although he isn't metal) also sure knows how to handle his instrument!
Another great bassist who many of you will be familiar with is John Myung.
