The cream colored paint won't change much if you don't use nitro laquer as your clear coat. The nitro has a LOT to do with the changes with the color over time.

+1

The guitar finish will only change if you have a nitrocellulose laquer. None of my guitars have a nitro finish and none of them have changed colour. The oldest is a white les Paul; 8 years old!

Keep in mind the ageing process doesn't take that long, especially with a colour like white. I believe it's been speculated on this site that Randy's guitar aged from white within about 3/4 years.

If you want to speed up the ageing process you could leave the guitar exposed to sunlight. Cigarette smoke could also probably have an effect! :o

The best thing might be to experiment. Paint little blocks of wood to use as samples, try different paint and lacquer. Try leaving one of the blocks in sunlight and see how it ages. Yes it's time consuming and would cost money. But with paint you never quit know how it will look until it dries!
