I am curious about this concept since my bithday is tomorrow; Where/when on earth did the number 13 become an unlucky number? Any history buffs out there that know about the origin of this conundrum?

I believe it has something to do with the devil and Christianity or something.
Not 100% sure on that, so don't quote me on that.

Not sure about the origin of it, but I think I'm a believer now. I woke up Friday morning to a water main break right in front of our house. I had to get some bottles of water from a nearby gas station to have a sponge bath with before heading off to work. Then I woke up this morning to find my monitor speaker (weighs 15 lbs) laying on the floor in the living room, with a big chunk of lacquer taken out of the side of my year-old Jackson RR1 that was on a stand nearby!

I haven't been able to debunk it yet, so this may very well be a paranormal event to add to the new conspiracy thread here!

LOL. I was listening to a radio show on my classic rock radio 104.5 KZEP and Nikki Sixx (of all people) had it written down this way...
"The earliest known documented reference in English occurs in Henry Sutherland Edwards' 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini:
Rossini was surrounded to the last by admiring and affectionate friends"
