New find apparently disproves 'missing link' theory and, ultimately, evolution.

Maybe his version of evolution, but not the general idea entirely.

It is very much a Victorian idea that evolution and God cannot co exist. Many including myself think that God created evolution.
The leap of faith to believe in evolution is a more of a step, compared to the literal leap one must make to believe in a supreme being.

This was a really great read and it reminded me about different species that developed to look similer but were not releted, I heard recently of types of Shark that are now millions of uears extinct that looked the same although were different in size but didn't have a common ancestry.
This goes to show that over time we still have much to learn. I always get a little pissed off when I see how much is spent on space exporation when our planet still has so much to yield,or that money could be better spent healing damage we have caused it

There are many Christians that believe in Evolution. John Paul II in the mid 90s declared them to be more than just a theory. There are a few Protestant churches that say the same.

Sure, all creatures evolve and change over time. But did humans start out as monkeys? No.

Hi Nicole
Nice to see you on here

and interesting, well actually I have enjoyed everyone's posts on the subject and thanks Paul for an interesting link and discusssion. (I couldn't help imagining old Mr Dawkins moaning in the God Delusion, how Christians use science as evidence to support their arguments but then shut the door on it when it offers evidence against their beliefs.)
I can't help that though. What ever idea I entertain I hear an automatic devil's advocate voice, explaining other sides. LOL
I would rather Darwin's theory than the absurd notion that the earth is a few thousand years old as many creationists believe. I know there are some people that think that in schools, creationism should be taught alongside evolution. I am against this being taught in science and think the lack of evidence means it should be kept in theology/religious studies lessons.
I am glad we live in a society that allows free thought and don't have to subscribe to one extreme notion or the other.
Matt
ps
is Creation the film about Darwin, showing anywhere in the US ,or is it completly banned?

What it actually says is that our last common ancestor might not have been chimpanzee-like. We still most likely started out as apes, just like monkeys did.
Sorry Alex, I used 'monkeys' generically because that is the term used most often when discussing Darwin on a general level.
I don't believe humans evolved from anything. We started as humans and will continue as humans.

I don't know about that film being shown or not (I've actually heard nothing about it, so there you go...but I am not a movie person really.) but I doubt it would be banned though.
