Geezer Butler is great. So is Billy Cox...Noel Redding was awesome as well! Leon, man talk about under-rated! I also really like Jack Bruce.

Cliff Burton is ok. Nothing he did really dazzled me, but I suppose he was influential in that so many kids play because of Metallica.

I really like everyone that has been said so far. Leon was VERY underrated I agree.I also like Jaco Pastorius and John Entwhistle. I can't forget the great Phil Lynott...never did anything very flashy but, held the bottom line down exeptionally well. If I had to pick one it would be Cliff Burton. He is my Randy Rhoads when it comes to bass players.

An instrumental with Randy and Cliff would have been insane. Cliff had the creativity and melody that are missing from Metallica's post Cliff albums. I'd still go with Geddy Lee.

I gotta say everyone has put in great contributions. THESE GUYS ARE ALL KICK ASS FOR SURE!! So proud. I did forget to mention Les Claypool though. Very bad ass in his own right.

I saw Mr. Big open for Rush... Billy Sheehan was playing stuff that shouldn't even be possible on bass. illy's prowess pushed Geddy to new heights as well. Two of the best ever.

I've always been partial to bassists who fit their role, which is to support the rhythm of the song, to that end, guys like John Entwhistle have always been my favorites. Mike Anthony was great as a bassist but horrible as a soloist.

Who/Whom is my favorite Bass player?

I like Gail Anne Dorsey she is pretty good and its great when you see a woman who can give the men a run for there money!
Cologne she'll wear silver and americard, She'll drive a beetle car and beat you down at cool Canasta. And when the clothes are strewn don't be afraid of the room touch the fullness of her breast feel the love of her caress she will be your living end.
