Something I've been studying for a while now and thought I'd give making one a shot. You do need a good box and cheap tuners do just fine. The real heart and soul though is using what you have handy. You can throw money at anything but really putting some thought into what things out in the garage can get the job done is a great creative outlet. My string ball-end retainers are little expansion nuts for mounting shelves on drywall. The nut and bridge are bolts. I'm tuned to DAD with the D's an octave apart. Obviously with the action currently at 1" it is strictly slide. The tone is incredibly sweet and resonate. Everyone should have a go at making one. Hendrix and most all Delta Bluesmen got their start this way.

Excellent looking work. Especially how those tuners (machine heads) look on the triangular wood.

Dan, have you ever heard of any of the folk on attached poster?

Heard of most of them and Oakroot is from around these parts. Killer stuff there. Lots of clips on youtube from most of these guys.
