Perhaps, but slavery is a much more recent issue and it did happen. And while im not discrediting christianity, hating the jews for killing christ or even believing it happened would be based on a leap of faith.

its the difference between accusing someone of stealing because you have evidence and accusing them because you guess they did it.

thats the way i see it anyway. but yes you are right anti-semitism is very much alive...

I have read the four main ones, the most famous is Josephus's controversial account.

Thank you for pointing to this Trigger. I imagine it is pretty difficult to explain this type of view since everyone in the world is going to jump down your throat at the mere use of the word holocaust and how it pertains to Israel. That on top of the fact that Iran's nemisis, the Zionists, have their finger on a hair trigger, ready to vaporize your country's cities, basically whenever they feel the need to. This IS the reason that country's in the middle east are persuing nuclear weapons, to defend themselves from extinction by Zionist Israel.

That is a great question. I hate it when "sophisticated" Europeans believe they have no racial problems in their country.

On a musical side issue to do with Black slaves. I wonder if blues would have evolved anyway regardless of their harsh treatment?

I know in the UK one thing the BNP (very far right wing!) mentions is that there were in fact a high proportion of white slaves too as well as non white.

In other words they believe that the black man especially gets too much coverage for slavery etc.

ps Just for the record. In the Theology thread when I presented info some people made sssumptions that I was a Chistian or a anti Christian..I was and am infact neither. Equally please don't think I have 'white power' tatooed acroos my knuckles.

Yeah, I've actually heard about that problem up North...
I was actually referring to England and France mainly. A good friend of mine who studied abroad in England got a lot of crap for being an American and "hating black people" (which she doesn't, it was just a trait that they imagined all Americans had) when she was called an "Effin' Jew" several times in the street whenever she wore her Star of David necklace.

And Alex, I am interested in the immigration in Sweden. Who are the types that immigrate? American immigrants are mainly made up of people from Latin America and East and Southeast Asia.

I know this is probably not the place to say this, but me and my mum have been doing some family research, and if we can get the certificates and find proof that there is a link.

Well, you all know I'm 1/8th dutch, well the Van Lear's side of the family (through my great grandparents) were cigar makers, and not only that but jewish.

So I could have jewish ancestry!

As for the "Effin jew" stuff, I used to hear Jew used as an insult at college, it piddled me off! You hear from a few students "YOU JEW!" to someone who just did a stupid thing.

Luckily at uni, I aint met a single person who has said it.

The problem we have with crime in London is not race related, in my opinion, as it is so multi culteral here. Blacks and whites work together to mug you.

Kids that kick bus shelters to smithereens ,or steal mobile phones off other kids belong to gangs consisting of a variety of all races. LOL

I think the anger seems more directed at class (crime wise), rather than race.

Simon and Nicole. Yes I remember that at school. Kids would call kids a Jew if they picked a two pence piece from the floor. Horrible stuff.
In the pubs and stuff it seems the older generation who call blacks 'darkies' etc and still (even as a joke) to have an issue with Black people etc.

As far as I can see though there is a new trend in racism now though. Some people are very suspicsious of Muslims or any one arabic for that matter...they represent the current target group.

This is all obviously just my opinion from my little area of the UK

How do Rob, Simon and Ian feel about that?
