I agree, Ken. It was Off the Wall and Thriller. Not to fond of him after that when he started acting and behaving strangely. Although, I did like the song Black and White, and Remember the Time.

He was found NOT GUILTY on all counts of child molestation. And he's not any more drugged out that a lot of rock stars that people admire.

oj was found not guilty...any adult male that plays with 12 yr olds needs to be in a nuthouse or they have tragic ends....he had lots of mental issues...he was given a lot of slack because of his wealth and celebrity...Any other person would trying to pull his child stuff would be locked up for a long time.He got a free pass for way too long....Seems pretty clear now that he was a major drug addict.

Don't think that this is really the thread to talk about what a nut Michael was or what a "child molester" he was. Perhaps you should start another thread and leave this one for his fans.

Up and about now :)

The fans and also the Jackson haters are one thing. At least they are consistent.
The people who criticised him while he was alive, and then are writing gushing respects to him, are the ones that I have to reach for the sick bucket for :)

you should read the la times article yesterday by robert hiburn on mj.He knew and interviewed mj many times from a youn kid till a few yrs ago.Like many things in our pop culture the image belied the reality.I remember thriller mania and how in 1984 all the weird stuff started to come out. There were 2 sides of him being hyped in the media.Clearly something was wrong with him and he became a parody of himself but at the same time he was being promoted as a superstar-i found it unconscionable and a a very real and disturbing statement of our materialistic society.
His death was no surprise.I am surprised it didnt happen 20yrs ago.He died like elvis or anna nicole. With the same bunch of enablers and loser entourage that were using each other for each others benefits. They were his shield from the real world so he could continue his bizarre behavior and drug use all the while trying to present a lie to the outside world that he was some superstar. He was exactly the opposite of the image promoted. It was a big tragic lie.To me it was apparent to me 25yrs ago this dude was disturbed big time and i found it sick how the media would let all this stuff slide and tried to create some wholesome image abouthim.
They were selling a bold faced lie for 25 yrs.It repulsed me for 25yrs that the media and his team could do this crap.Really a sad commentary on our society and what we are willing to ignore in exchange for a little fantasy.

am i the only one who thinks that the passing of a child molester/freak/artist with mediocre songs is just as sad as the passing of a locked up murderer who rotted in jail half his life???

So was O.J. Simpson, but that didn't change people's perception of him because of the accusation.

We will never know what really happened, because we were not there.

Personally, I thought of MJ as weird for the eccentric clothes he wore and his plastic surgeries. I mean sequined jackets to make him look like royalty? I found it odd.

There is no denying his legacy in music however. Anyone around in the Thriller era will remember his influence.
