David says the way he dealt with losing his Father was to imagine that he was on a long holiday and he would be back sometime in the future, as the song developed it started to include his feeling towards his friend Mark Bolan of T-Rex, David had performed ‘Heroes with Mark on TV and on the way home was killed in a crash.
This song is about his loss of two people he loved dearly.

This song is about growing old and David says as he wrote it he became aware for the first time of his own aproaching death as he grows older living in New York, its beautiful and still bring tears to my eyes.

I am very proud of David Bowie he is an amazing man, a poet and musical genius almost 61 years old and still ahead of his time.

They are nice songs Ian and I thank you for taking the time to get these for me I am a becoming a fan of bowie myself, so is my girlfriend.

I like everyone says hi just makes me think of the positive things about my grandfather's and my own life.

Where as slip away, sounds very Ziggy Stardust, interesting lyrics and audibly surreal.
