If you bend them slower there is more tension for a longer period in time compared with a quick bend and release, so yes it could be.

Btw, I play with a bassplayer who was always irritated because I break strings on regular base. But after some time playing with him he started to break strings more often as well! :shock: And he accused me that I infected him! :lol:
But I suspect he started to use a lighter gauge without realizing it. But I'm not sure.
