Just wanted to share this with others who share my interest in preserving the legacy of Randy Rhoads through collectibles and memorabilia...

http://www.backstageauctions.com/catalog/auction_list.php

I've been following this auction company for a little over a year now. They work with musicians, record executives and other industry types to provide really nice items in their auctions. They're currently running a Heavy Metal auction, and if you're a Metal fan - its worth your time to check it out!

My apologies if this is considered spamming. I just wanted to share this with anyone who might care! Thanks!

Look under Ozzy, some cool Randy stuff IMO. If anyone wants to split the magazine & book lot, I need a couple items, let me know.

One of the RR autographs is fake.Guess.
One of the Ozzy blizzard shirts is not rare or from a concert.Pretty basic shit to know if your an auction house. Some of the wording+tactics are deceitful.

I'd say both the RR signatures are fake. The items listed there are available on ebay on a regular basis. All the laminated passes are copied crap. Some of the shirts are modern day copies. I checked out the Van Halen items some cool vintage signatures and some nice posters. A couple of them i've still got from 1980. Some cool Quiet Riot items. Rudy Sarzo is selling alot of his effects some signed items and stage clothes.

i edited my original post because i went totally off when i saw that the first ozzy auction is for a fake auto and a t shirt. You know buy one get one free???The t shirt is your consolation prize. That set me off.

Anyway i checked out some of the other auctions and they were ok.Mostly pics and shirts.

Anyway its buyer beware as always.

I agree, buyers should always beware. I just shared the link because I've bought from these guys in the past and trust the authenticity of what they're selling. Personal opinion, I suppose! Anyways, thanks to everyone for weighing in!

You cant trust ANYBODY when it comes to collectibles especially dealers and pro ebay sellers.
These guys are selling 2 RR autos. One is a fake and one is real.If they dont know the difference they shouldnt be selling any RR autos.Strangely, they throw in a real shirt with the fake autograph-so maybe they know and feel some guilt?Just sayin'.
Some of their shirts are original bootlegs-they should advertise them as such, they are inferior quality to authorized shirts. They have the gaudy bright colored inks and most are made in pakistan.Collectors and dealers know this.
Some cool vh candid + live shots and otherwise.

Buyer beware.

Oth i know your a good source of info for RR signatures. But what makes you think that second signature is 100%. I'm not going to go into how his signature is correctly wrote etc. You've mentioned that the first one has to be sold with a shirt to back up its authenticity or as you said 'they know'. Well how do they not know that the number wrote on the back of the old flyer is Randy's contact number that was on his business card. Plus it would be in Randy's writing if its next to his name. Would that be giving too much info to the bidders to put them off. The auction is at a low start which is a classic indication to me that it is BS. This could be an old flyer with Randy's phone number wrote on by him and then his signature has been added to the flyer. How the number is at a strange angle to the signature ?. Plus the flyer has been cut down ?. Because the flyer is old but the dates wouldn't be from Randy's time. Paper is a hard one to make old plus it can be dated. Why wasn't it cut down to the size of the signature ?. Sometimes being careful isn't enough and an education can be of help.

"But what makes you think that second signature is 100%. I'm not going to go into how his signature is correctly wrote etc. "

Its all in the way he wrote his 'd' and there are 2 variations and too hard to replicate for an amateur forger. And as you know there are variations to his r's.Ive seen fakes with R's done ok but i have never seen a fake where the d's where done well-they dont even bother with the detail.I think most forgers concentrate on the first and last letter of the name.

Randy isnt the Beatles,so its not a wide audience or career you can make out of.There is a guy who does Beatles authentication and he s very respected and expensive.
The auction house doesnt know the significance of the phone# because they dont know their stuff nor important details.Randy's is the only auto that i have ever studied and you have to really study an auto to get some grasp for it.I couldnt imagine what its like to study hundreds of auto's.Thats why PSA/DNA is bs.Its a total conflict of interest scheme. The more autos they study the more they make, the less time they have to properly study the less reliable, time is money!Who are the experts they hire?Where did they get schooled on auto's?Are they die hard fans? How do you become an expert at thousands of signatures. Now that they are linked with ebay for their services they must get many, may thousands of submissions per week. One signature is bad enough to study.

Oth you will always mention the signature and how it connects etc. The flow of the d's how the h connects with R etc. I've seen that many variations, you've put them all as being original, when they look so wrong. But the forgers study signatures aswell. What if this guy who done this signature didn't know anything about RR. So the flyer would be his downfall. If the flyer was from after 1982. But the signature looks good, how could you get away with selling this to someone. Believe me i've seen good signatures and bad. But when someone has a signed Tribute album ?. I understand the so called experts that have to go from looking at some example, be it a forgery or not they have to start somewhere. As far as you mentioning 'Randy isn't the Beatles'. Well thats how much you know about his signature. His is worth more then the Beatles, and it is a harder signature to find. In an auction at Christies a fully signed Blizzard album sold for £3120.00 a Jimi Hendrix signed promo photo sold for £800.00 and a fully signed Sgt Peppers album went for £1800.00. I've sold enough RR signatures to know that it is more valuable and rarer. The most i've made on a 1980 Ozzy set is £2050.00 = $3317.00 the auction houses are realisinig that his signature is one for the collectors. More fans are very cautious about buying his as they probably have seen more forgeries then originals. That's why that signed 'Crazy Train' never sold. It was at a very nice cheap price of $499.00 which is a quarter of the value. I must admit i've picked up Ozzy & RR signatures for less then £100.00. But these have been overlooked and sold, not knowing what they had for sale or it's potential value.

I dont think you can get a real sgt peppers signed album for under 25k.

oops, here is a signed sgt pepper inner sleeve going for 50,000us
http://beatlesautographs.com/latest-acquisitions.htm

"Vintage, fully-signed “Sgt. Pepper” LP covers can command in excess of six figures. This fully-signed inner sleeve, the ONLY one which has surfaced to date, is a top-notch investment piece and could very well be the closest most collectors will ever get to owning a signed “Sgt. Pepper”. Here is a chance to own a piece of pop music history — at a far more affordable price than a signed cover.....$50,000"

Ok you did your homework, i'm not on the ball with the rising prices of The Beatles autographs but i was surprised to see this...
According to the industry's PFC40 Autograph Index, the average value of a George Harrison signed photo rose from £195 to £2,500 in that time (up 1,182.1%) compared to £5,500 to £24,000 for a Beatles group signed photograph (up 336.4%).

I never knew the price had gone up so much, but saying that, other autographs will surely rise in price. So Randy's may bring even more in a specialised auction.
