Doug Marks' Metal Method

Post by Paul Wolfe »

I was cleaning the garage over the weekend and came across my Metal Method DVDs... I bought the set years ago for my oldest son, Alex... so what I've got now are actually copies.

At any rate, I've never worked through them and was wondering if any of you have? I'm working up lessons for Jakob (11-years-old) and thought I'd check Doug's ideas for inspiration.

So, today I was bored and decided to look for a guitar instructional video to inspire me... I worked out the Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme and wanted to do some more learning...

I came across Doug Mark's site and found that he's selling a DVD teaching the songs by his band, Hawk. I thought, "What the hell?" and looked up Hawk on YouTube... Here's an example of Doug in a band setting.

That is Scott Travis from Judas Priest on drums in that clip, while the bass player (Lonnie Vincent) ended up in the Bulletboys.
