So I was at the Goodwill store a few weeks back when I came across a book titled Improvising Rock Guitar for $2... being a lover of guitar manuals, I bought it.
It was published in 1973 and has a floppy 45 rpm phonograph record inside with all the examples recorded on it. A record!
It's also got tab, which I thought was an '80's thing... but the really interesting thing to me is it's from a time when Van Halen was Mammothand Quiet Riot hadn't even formed yet, Sabbath released Sabbath Bloody Sabbath that year and Zeppelin released Houses of the Holy... it's refreshing in that they talk about scale box patterns but just call them 'box patterns' as opposed to Pentatonic box patterns...
I love finding cool old stuff
