This is what GuitarIdol said earlier in the thread regarding the 12 string Firebird:

"Info is coming out all the time about various guitars Randy used. The 12 string Gibson Firebird which is pictured in the recording pics from Ridge farm. That was a guitar that Ozzy bought from his PA Dave Tangye. It was giving to Randy, but another guitar that has vanished. It's never mentioned and as far as i am aware was part of his guitar arsenal."

Can you tell me about his first guitar?

Kathy: The first one he ever played on was that old Gibson.

Kelly: My mom’s father who was a doctor played guitar as a hobby, and he had an old dark 1918 Gibson Army/Navy special. My brother discovered that guitar and started playing on it.

Kathy: That was the beginning of his guitar playing. We still have that guitar. It's in my mom's bedroom.

Kelly: It doesn’t even say Gibson where the tuner thingies are. It says it inside the guitar.

With Randy now inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they have his original Jackson Concord as well as pedalboard (among other things) on display.

My question is: Has Randy's actual original Les Paul ever been on display??
I wonder if it will be? I'd love to get some Hi-Def photos of it and all the way around if possible.

There are a lot of great quality current photos of the white LPC in the "Randy Rhoads" book. I used them as a reference when I customized my '74 Custom to make it closer to Randy's:

Could you be more specific and post the link to the book you're referring to?!?
There are more than one book in regard to Randy.

It's in the coffee table book, the one by Steven Rosen & Andrew Klein:

My Custom isn't as worn as Randy's was, but I'm quite happy with it:

WOW!!!! Book arrived yesterday and it is the quintessential book on Randy Rhoads!
Every photo you can think of and stories are in here and a MUST HAVE for any Rhoads fan.
Don't care about all the drama and what happened. Not sure of all the negativity toward it. So far, it paints Randy in the clouds and everyone appreciative of him and his talent! The photos are amazing...not only him, but his girlfriends and friends and all of his equipment including complete rig and as someone communicated pedalboard with door open and exact EQ settings!! :O

Mrs. Rhoads and the Rhoads family must have took a hell of a shining to Peter M. for him to get this close and Hi-Res photos and pull this off.

I read there were only 2,500 copies released?? Wow. They are going for a premium also. Not sure if I'll keep mine or not. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm enjoying and have started reading (about 20 pages in), so thanks so much for the tip off. Really appreciate it and recommend for any Rhoads lover.

I'm glad you found it. I know they made some sort of sizeable initial printing, and then it was recalled after the legal mess. Not sure how many of them survived. I agree, it is the quintessential RR book and resource.
