George played in a second tier band - Dokken. Lynch Mob never made it into the mainstream consciousness. A LOT of very talented players never made it to Icon status. Randy also loved Ariel Bender and Mick Ronsen - neither of them ever were on Eddies level of Icon status either, although they both played in bigger bands than Dokken.

I never said George wasn't good (aside from my exasperated joke above). Randy liked his playing, so what? I like Rick Nielsen's playing and Randy thought he was sloppy and mediocre. He was also in a bigger band than Dokken!

George is a guitar players guitar player, not a mainstream guy. If you don't play guitar it's doubtful you even remember Dokken, let alone George.

By the way, 'quinnsryche' I grew up in Bellevue, Wa around the likes of Chris Degarmo and Mike Wilton - both of them are phenomenal players as well - but they'll never be Icons.
This conversation is over as you have just proven to everyone you know NOTHING about music, guitar or talent.
You said in the same post "I never said George wasn't good" and "George fucking sucks".

Little one, I also referenced the joke I made about saying George sucks... Word for word: "I never said George wasn't good (aside from my exasperated joke above)."

I've forgotten more about music, guitar and talent than you'll ever know in this lifetime, kiddo. I have an opinion about George that you don't like because you, in my opinion, seem to be blinded by idol worship.

Read through my posts and learn... I said I feel he's good, but not star material... I said George is a phenominal player, but, to me, he is on the level of 'Snake' Sabo or DiMartini (both Skid Row and Ratt were bigger than Dokken, by the way)... I said, "By 'B Level' guitar player I didn't mean he's not a talented player, I meant he isn't iconic like Eddie, Slash, Clapton, Jimi, Satch"... I said Lynch Mob is a guitar players band... I said I don't know of anyone who has heard of Lynch Mob that doesn't play guitar...

So, kiddo, at what point do I know nothing about music, talent or guitar? George was 'hand-picked' to replace Randy at Musonia, right? He was also fired by Randy's mom shortly thereafter for not being up to par as a teacher.

I don't care for George or his playing. That doesn't mean I don't think he's good. It means I don't like his playing.

As for your comment:

That just shows your maturity level. You are a newbie here, I am not. Show some respect for people with a different opinion. All of my comments are thought out and respectful (until people like you attack, then I might condescend to call you "Kiddo").

Time to move on, you and George are not worth any more time arguing.

So, with no disrespect intended, I was wondering about the claim that George was 'on the short list' twice to be Ozzy's guitarist... has anyone read about this anywhere other than from George?

Yes. It is in Gary Sharpe Young's 'Story Of The Ozzy Osbourne Band'.

But is that quoting George or does the info come from Ozzy (or even Dana Strum)? I guess I'm curious, because I've read the claim a number of times, but never sourced to anyone but George himself. I'm not saying he's lying, but it would boost any guitar players rep to claim they were on the Ozzy short list - just ask Des Sherwood.
