I think maybe in the future, but not immediately. He would have got Speak of the Devil out of the way, then moved onto pastures new.

Ruday Sarzo did state in his book that Randy agreed to do the "Sabbath Live Album" that became Speak Of The Devil. He also agreed to one more studio album and one more tour.
But he did want out, and he did want to return to school for a degree in classical.
I believe he would have done all of the above.
I think he would have disapeared for 2-3 yrs, finished his degree.... then done a solo album. Part rock... part classical... totally awesome.
When you look at the rise of the instrumental guitar albums of the late 80's, the fact that Randy had a huge following regardless of his death and the that Bob Daisley, Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo were hard at work within the music scene... especially on many of those solo albums for guitarists.... i think he would have tried his hand at at least one or two albums, then formed a band with Bob Daisley (whom he respected and got along well with), found a drummer (Aldridge or Kerslake maybe) and sought out a vocalist.
I can see him also working with his brother. Possibly staying within the Ozzy circle to write some music, but not do another album with him.
I think he would have become a truly respected musician.
Collaborated with many other artists.
