So i asked Lee and he said they will do all Mahogany for +$100...I also asked about a mahogany and maple cap..he said that would be another $100. I will probably end up going with the mahogany and maple. The RR1 i had for a time being was very bright of course because of the alder...Not that i did not like it, it just sounds really thin compared to a LP type of guitar.

Now the true debate comes up...go with just the standard fender trem or the floyd rose??...I really don't like floyd rose trems at all and it's not like i am going to be dive bombing on the thing every two seconds. I used to have a G&L USA Legacy and that thing stayed rock solid in tune no matter what i did on the trem. As long as they are setup correctly and stringed good they are good enough..Still questioning it though.

Also, when i was taking about GMW having to get permission from Sandoval...I was not talking really about the body shape..But everything else, same exact polka dot layout, bow tie inlays, harpoon head stock...What other guitar in the world has that combo? It is not like is just another of the mill Gibson Flying V, it is completely different and original.

Meh oh well..something to talk about until new footage comes out :)

I would go with a standard trem with a graph tech nut and locking tuners

Once you set up the trem properly the locking tuners will help the guitar stay in tune

I can tell you what randy did to his concord to keep it in tune of you would like!

Just wondering what was the wait time for the guitar ?

Ok, I did the standard trem and locking tuners. Having played literally 100's of guitars I have found that the floyd (or Khaler) is the best for any trem work. I have never had a guitar stay in tune like a floyd does. Some set ups are better than others though. If you really hate floyd's then dont get one. But if you prefer tuning stability over the ease of changing strings do the floyd.

I really ended up not liking my GMW because I did not get a floyd. And that is why I sold it. And was I doing drive bombs all the time? No. But when I did the G and B string always went out of tune. It did not go out of tune much but I could tell and it bothered me so much I stopped playing it. I even had Lee put on a heavy duty trem for the stability. Now there are things you could do to get the guitar back in tune like bending a string after the dive bomb. But that just did not work in a lot of cases because it did not fit. I always lubed up the nut too.

That mahogany with maple cap will be awesome. I had Lee put on an ebony fret board and 22 frets. When I have him do my next one I will do 24 frets and ebony again. I am thinking of doing the red V with white dots. I think that looks so cool. Anyway, I hope this helps you some. Sounds like a cool guitar. And for giggle my serial number was 008.

His guitars did not stay in tune esp that PDV because he used it more than the Concord. Every time he used them you can hear certain chords being out of tune later in songs after he used the trem. The biggest songs were The spot light solo. Pick any time, 80,81,82. I hear them going out on just about every boot leg.

Yep, it's a big decision especially if your spending upwards of 3k, the thing better stay in tune...I have never actually owned a fender strat in 20+ years of playing, so i have never really had time with there trem..The closest i had was that G&L Legacy USA. G&L makes there own trems and i would have put that up against any floyd rose out there, the thing was rock solid and is probably the best trem setup i have ever played.

I have both a charvel with a floyd and a strat with a vtrem and honestly have never had tuning problems with the vtrem, you just have to make sure there is absolutely no friction anywhere the string contacts anything. Mind you I don't go super nuts on the bar anyway. I love the extra zing you get with a floyd

Right on, I just wish my luck was the same as you guys. But, I hope all goes well either way. And I really do understand the floyd dilemma. There is much more of a process and time is required for them. You probably should go with the standard trem.
