wow you are caught up in the footage thing it's just the type of camera quality the photographer used back then. The colored gel stage lights they used back then made it difficult for less quality cameras to get good clear shots without the regular light on them. Though his camera looks like a pretty decent one not a cheap kind back them. Those blue ,red , yellow gels washed out the photos really bad. I understand your passion I wish there were more too.

Here are examples from a Milwaukee, Show .. real clear lights on the stage bow but even the yellow light starts to wash out.

these pics are different than most it seems to me...really nice close up almost at waist level like the photog was on sitting on stage...he manages to catch an intense facial expression without the open mouth thing we usually see....
