I was speaking to a guy today about a VHS cassette he has of Motorhead. This was shot on a cine camera in 1981, it came from Phil Taylor's (Motorhead's drummer ) dad Colin. He filmed various Motorhead gigs, backstage etc while he toured with the band. This footage has been edited from the original and is 30 minutes long so i can imagine it will contain mostly Motorhead from the Port Vale HMH gig. The film was shot back stage and features Ozzy with Sharon and Lemmy introducing Ozzy onto the stage with snippets of Believer and Crazy Train. I asked the guy if he can send me some stills from the footage and when he gets some spare time he will forward those to me. I'm not going to build my hopes up high as i can imagine the clips to be like this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6DL0MqpglI with shots filmed from the side of the stage looking across...the guy said Tommy is in shot for a while, Randy is part of this clip. This footage has never been posted up on youtube or on the internet. Watch this space for more news..

OK The guy has just sent me some stills from the footage it gives you an idea of the quality plus the video is on pause. I've asked him if he could let the tape run and try and get some better shots.

The guy has said it only shows Ozzy and the band for 10 minutes which i would lower down to about 6-8mins as he hasn't timed the footage. This was his reply and yes it does have sound ..." The footage of Randy is onstage - not the one with Lemmy & Ozzy, it is minimal though, you probably see more of Tommy Aldridge on the drums from the side shot.? The whole Port Vale footage is 30 minutes, I would guess 10 minutes backstage & Ozzy/band, and the rest mostly Motorhead - I hope this doesn't disappoint you? "..

Well the guy is in the knowing that he has a valuable tape if not for the motorhead content only. But i honestly think the Ozzy / Randy footage will be over as fast as you start watching this. The live tracks are snippets not full tracks but the audio is listen-able to recognise the tracks being played i think a couple more track clips are on this as well. He wouldn't post it up on youtube or give me a copy. If i am going to see this i will have to pay for it..

I'd contribute if need be. Is he willing to get it out there?

Well contributions would be a help as i couldn't buy this on my own. I'd only be getting the 30 mins from the HMH Port Vale gig and that would be on disc not the original. But how do you put a price on this without having to pay through the nose for it... ?

Cool stills! Hopefully this guy will come thru and be realistic about what the footage is worth.
