Randy Lesson tape

Post by hansolo »

I bought this a while back. It was advertised in the back of a hit parader or circus magazine. There is some cool stuff on there, especially this one bluesy lick that randy shreds on, for lack of a better term. Anybody know the origin, date or who's lesson? I'm assuming a few people have or heard this one. I would upload but I'm not sure how. I don't even know how to upload a song to youtube or Fandalism!

Would be nice if people can spell Randy's surname correct (referring to the label on the tape).....

I think your best bet would be to put it on YouTube :)

I have that tape! Obtained it in exactly the same way, too.

In the May 1992 issue of Guitar World, there was a written lesson based on that tape. I'm sure there was a Power Tab of it as well, or maybe I Power Tabbed it? I can't recall, but it's definitely a cool tape. Mine wasn't great quality, so it was hard to hear Randy speaking, but the playing is amazing.

Here's the extent of my Randy collection:

A-ha! Sweet. From what I remember it had a lot of hiss like a tape of a tape of a tape, etc. Can you post the audio? If you can't, I will try to figure out how to post the audio (possibly on youtube) in the next few days/weeks...

I was just looking through my hard drive and found the audio from that tape, yeah, LOTS of hiss :|

It's 41 minutes long so I'll have to cut it into 10 minute pieces for YouTube and add a picture or something. I'll see what I can do this evening.

Quite a few different ones by now!

Sorry for not getting this uploaded yet, I'd say reality got in the way, but, in truth, I simply spaced it! Hopefully I'll get to it soon...

Is this part of it? I remember there being a few cool, fast descending licks.
