Tom Morello wrote:"See, I was never a big fan of the whole 'party-hard-we're-gonna-rock-harder' world. I liked music. But I could see myself in Randy, how he was a real student of music. The fact that he practiced for hours on end really appealed to me. He was serious, and he wanted only to get better at his craft. When I was practicing eight hours a day, his was the poster I had on my wall."
As I've often said, Ace made me pick up the guitar, Randy made me want to keep at it.
Thanks for the heads up and the link.

Yes, Ace Frehley... how could he
not inspire an 11-year-old in 1977?

Love the Rage and love the Morello! Big fan. I did notice a rather large inconsistency for a Randy fan. Didn't Mr. Morello refer to "Speak (Talk for English fans) of the Devil" as jelly coming out of the "singer's" mouth? That was Gillis and I like that album but it's not Diary. Not Randy. Just saying. This hit me at work.
"Almost immediately after hearing him for the first time, he became my favorite guitar player. I remember buying Diary Of A Madman when it came out, and somebody at the record store was making fun of me because of the album cover. I had to explain to this person that, while I certainly liked Ozzy, I was really a big Randy Rhoads fan – that's why I was buying the record. It was like, 'Well, the guitar player doesn't have raspberry jelly coming out of his mouth… ' Randy was a serious, you know?"

I didn't notice. I will have to read it again. I thought he was just talking about the DOAM cover. Thing is were did he buy records and the clerk would break your ball about what your purchasing?

This was still the Flock of Seagulls era, so if it was a twimp manning the register, I can see a comment like that...

That's what we called our peers who looked like this:
It was wrong and I definitely work hard at teaching my kids not to judge... looks, musical taste... that doesn't tell you who the person is and I regret my teenage attitude.
