Ultimate Rhoads

I just bought the new guitar world with EVH on the cover and there is an article on RR about his audition for Ozzy and in the article, there is a sub article about a couple new books coming out on RR. I'm sure most of you guys on here know that but what's intriguing is that there will be a 90 minute doc on RR include in one of the books. Guitar World says there is a trailer of the doc on their website but I couldn't find the trailer.

Anyone got any inside info on this doc?

That sounds like the shelved Dakota 'making of' docu which was from the original idea of the RR film. Which has now turned into a book with the 90 min DVD. What was mentioned on Bernie Torme's FB page makes more sense now... The other book will more then likely be Kelly Garni's book which went very quiet. Watch this space for more ..

Here is the info:

Randy Rhoads: The Quiet Riot Years is written by Ron Sobol who was QR's personal photographer. That is the book that comes with the DVD that is 90 minutes and traces Rhoads rise to fame with rare early footage of Randy ripping it up.

The other book is written by Steven Rosen and Andrew Klein. 400 page book with numerous interviews and hundreds of rare photos and memorabilia.

I was a little bit disappointed with this month's magazine.

It's more or less Randy's month, so they put a big picture of EVH on the front and put a little mentioning of Randy Rhoads at the bottom. XD

The article was nice. Not sure how accurate most of that is, since I've never heard most of the stuff in it, but it's a good read.

It also comes with a poster. On one side, it's EVH's guitar, on the other, it's a poster of Randy Rhoads's Polka Dot V with random pictures of his face posted around it. Still, better than nothing though lol

I'm still waitnig for mine to come in the mail. Why are they selling this on the news stand?

I enjoyed the article on Randy. There is a new interview with Dana Strum with some new info about the audition process Randy went thru. Cool new pic of Randy playing a black Les Paul Standard onstage with Quit Riot (probably one of his student's guitars). Regarding the books, there will be two of them, as others have mentioned one will focus on his QR years and include a DVD of QR fottage (who knows if any of it will be new to us hardcore RR fans?) One thing that bugs me is the price for each book is 100 dollars! That's a lot of coin! It did say you can order both books together for 150, but still...oh well, if the reviews are good when they come out I'll probably pony up.

This. I will buy these the instant they become available. The DVD alone will be worth it for me if the quality is great.

You could buy these at Guitarworld/store BUT there already sold out--may have some more in soon they say--150 for 2 books+ DVD is kinda pricey for most folks--I will scrape up the dough for them as they will be pretty cool

I don't believe they have gone on sale yet. The sold out icon is probably there until they go on sale officially.
I can't wait for these. Finally something great is being released after all the BS with the Documentary & let downs over the years...

One of the main reasons they over price everything is cause they can. If the Osbournes and the rhoads family realesed more things it might help a little. You can't buy a poster of him for under 30$.

No they are not available yet....

I picked up the magazine, nothing new info or picture-wise, so I gave it to my son who love's the poster of Ed's guitar! I then went to the online store to see the doc trailer mentioned in the sidebar article... yeah, it's not available either... why bother mentioning something that isn't ready yet?
