I've just been reading the Garry Sharpe Young book about the Ozzy Osbourne band.I was reading the chapter about Bernie Torme wanting to leave and Brad Gillis was waiting for the go ahead while they still auditioned other guitarists..!!(interesting reading) Brad Gillis goes on about how much he was rehearsing the songs for the set list now that he was officially IN the band."I hung out for four or five days on the road around the New York area, sitting in my room every day, with a Live Randy Rhoads tape that the sound man had recorded a few weeks before Randy's death,so i could check out all the segues between songs".
This could be the Holy Grail of bootlegs if it's been recorded through the sound-desk,and it could be the only copy, if the sound man handed it to Brad. This would be well worth chasing up how many concerts have been recorded throught the sound-desk ? I'm away to ask Brad i could be on to a winner...
I was under the impression that a number of shows were recorded through the sound desk... in the "extended" version of the "soundcheck" video, the soundboard, etc are shown on the video and you can clearly see a cassette in the deck.
Tommy Aldridge has also stated that he has "loads of tapes" that are better quality than the stuff released on Tribute (which Ozzy claimed at the time were the only tapes of Randy's live playing in existence)...
Of course, this tape that Brad may or may not have could be something impressive that we haven't heard... it's worth looking into.
I think you should look into this further guitaridol. I was told that all the shows were recorded from 1980 81 and 82 I believe there are others that dont show up on the lists.

That would be so awesome having every single show. Not only hearing everything Randy did but also, I'd be really really interested to hear the gig when Ozzy bit the bats head off. His reaction would probably be very funny. Also compering the first ever and last ever shows the group did together would be very interesting.
Hi Yeah how cool would this be ...If this turns out to be a rare recording and to top it off its been done through the sound desk so the quality will be MINT aswell.I've emailed Brad but i haven't getting a reply just yet but i hope with fingers crossed that this is still available...

Rocky the cassette in the tape deck is probably nothing to go on as the soundman could have the tape in there for the intro music or it could simply be a tape with tunes on for the change over between the support band and Ozzy. The thing that is cool is that if the soundman has given this tape to Brad the chances are that this will be the only one of its kind..I just wish he'd email me so i can either be WOOPING with joy or really pissed off . Watch this space...

OR it could be used to record the show... a lot of bands recorded a lot of shows at that time. That's why so many boots are labelled "Soundboard recording". You do have a point about the other possible uses for the cassettes, however.
The other thing to keep in mind is that if Brad was using this tape to learn his parts, he could have simply tossed it out once he'd learned the parts... or given it back to Ozzy... or left it on the bus... or it could be the shows used for Tribute...
Not trying to ruin your idea with negativity, but I've seen a LOT of people go nuts over the "PRO-SHOT video" thing, only to see another copy of After Hours.

I'm not building my hopes up on this one as i have a gut feeling that this will come to a dissapointment. It would be nice to see a classic show turn up after all this time. It's what every RR fans been dreaming of.
I don't think Brad would of tossed this out because of the respect for Randy but i could see this disappearing over 22 years.I would of kept it as a mementoe aswell because Brad knew he was only filling in to finish the tour.Plus no Live material was available of the band at that time.I think it could very well be the Cleveland OH show as this is a common soundboard show and it would tie in with the time aswell.I just hope Brad gets back to me ASAP
I wonder if it could be a copy of the Kalamazoo 1982 show that was recorded a few weeks before and it is SB recorded. Also if Brad was having to learn the Band jam that didnt feature in the pre Novenber 1981 shows.

I got an old tape here which I bought ages ago from a collector here in holland.
It only says: "Ozzy Osbourne / Randy Rhoads, LA, 02-'82, US Tour MIxing Desk".
It sounds a lot like other good quality '82 shows like Kalamazoo, Chicago. Very good quality and probably straight from the mixing desk.
So isn't it a possiblitity that we already heard some of those tapes T.A. talked about?
Oh, definitely... I am sure we've heard a number of them. I think Tommy was simply stating, for the record, that Tribute wasn't as good as it could have been and that Ozzy wasn't completely honest when he said, "This is all the live material available."
We all know Ozzy has at least one more full show recorded and un-reased with Randy on guitar.
