Apollo Theatre Footage.

Post by rokket »

So on Bob's facebook page there's a bit of talk of someone having Apollo Theatre footage. If this is true, it would be the earliest and only (that we know of) footage from that time period.

Hard to believe someone having something SOOOOO rare would not have come forward til now..........!!!!

I'd like to believe it exists, but somehow I doubt it.....seems to good to be true........

thoughts....???

It's from the Lintball guy apparently. If I recall correctly, he went to RR.tk and posted the Texas footage of them messing around or whatever. (Forgot what it's called)

He claimed to have more shows, but never released them. Who knows if he actually has them or not.

ok. Well I'll believe it when I see it. It's a strange scenario......honestly, if I had rare footage of anyone, I'd sell it in the hope it gets released. If nobody wanted to buy it, well my choice would be just to put it on youtube or offer copies for free...whatever works....but thats just me, but that thinking doesn't suit everyone.

If I recall correctly, he posted the footage to see what fans would do. If they were really interested he'd sell it or something, if not, he wouldn't.

What happened? I can't remember. The event happened before my time on these boards, but I think he was attacked by people and just left. (I could be wrong)

Nope, this rumor is not from Lintball. Lintball told me that he had footage from below shows:
1981 May 18th - Indianapolis
1981 May 24th - Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL ( he didn't say he had footage of this one, but he said there were camera's there while he attended)
1981 July 31th - Montreal
1981 Aug 1th - Port Vale, Heavy Metal Holocaust, UK
1982 Feb 18th - Beaumont, Texas (including soundcheck we've seen)
So the "Appollo Theatre" footage rumor is comming from someone else than Lintball. Just to put things straight here.
btw it wouldn't suprise me at all if there is footage from the first Blizzard tour, to me it's very unlikely if nothing was filmed somehow. If we ever got to see it is something else....

For the record, "Lintball" never posted any footage... a DVD came up for sale on ebay and someone bought it and posted the footage at tk... I believe it was Donnie who originally contacted "Lintball" and was told about 'more footage' and how he was afraid of what Sharon would do to him if he released it...

The DVD, by the way had an interview with Ozzy filmed there in Texas as well as interviews with SRV and Rory Gallagher... I believe there was one more, but I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go look for my copy.

Personally I'm not convinced that 'Lintball' has anything at all other than the soundcheck stuff which I believe was probably taped off of some local TV thing at the time. I also find it interesting that Ozzy's camp has never made any comment on it. If there was more, wouldn't they have wanted it for their Box?

Ozzy's camp not commenting on something new isn't unusual. I'd love to think that some footage from "Blizzard Of Ozz" does exist, but who knows. We already know the Osbourne's left some rare recorded audio material out of the box set, so it's possible they also left out footage as well.
Time will tell I suppose.

I Can't stand it when I hear people have stuff that relates to Randy and they won't show it to anyone else... That guy has those shows on film... .WTF? Seriously? What does he think? He's the only Randy Fan out there?

Well my theory is that there's only two reasons someone would not do something with footage if they have it....

1- they want a pile of cash for it, until they get it, it'll never see the light of day.
2- they don't have it at all and their full of it..............

That is a good theory... It'd probably become a law soon lol.... Anyway, I really hope they release that stuff very soon... I want to see Randy rocking out...

I am certain 'Lintball' has nothing more to offer. I'm sure he happened across the soundcheck footage because he knew someone who filmed it for the news and made big claims because he liked the attention tk gave him years ago. My own communications with him lead to that assessment.

hate to say it (just kidding) but yea I completely agree with Paul. He is right, Lintball knew the guy that borrowed the camera to go down and get interviews for a local news station. Just like the situation as the DVD Diary footage where they filmed just a couple songs. I am not even sure if the guy filmed the Beaumont show as was proclaimed. Those other shows have been rumors and I personally don't think he has them. I believe there is more out there other than Apollo and Phoenix and yea people want to stash it away for themselves I believe. Oh yea I looked at my copy and that Robin Trower was the other person on that dvd..
