I don't think so 'cause then he could hear the full power of his amps

I've never noticed him wearing any, and I've never heard of any metal guys from the early 80s using them. People were not as aware of the damage they were self inflicting back then.

Yea.. I never seen anything in the few ear shots of him.... It's kind of hard to ware earplugs while playing because then it's hard to hear yourself and you may get lost in a song so... I do not use earplugs in jams nor onstage... I'd rather go deaf than to make a mistake on stage

I don't think he would have back then but when I tried to do it I found I lost a lot of the focus I had becasue the sound had become to muffled. I don't think it is a pleasent way to be creative.

GUys ! Come on!! IF you play music and want to use earplug, you dont use earplug that are sold at walmart !! You dont use industrial earplug. You use earplug designed for musicians!!
THe difference is that musicians earplug wont muffle the sound but instead, act like a volume knob. YOU can have a 150$ earplug or 15$ earplug. Of course, the quality of the @volume knob@ with a 150$ earplug, will be better.
I have some 15$ musicians earplug and it work well. I dont use them often but they work.
sorry for the bad english.
here, the one i use
