Bongo Christ wrote:Beyond tiresome. There's no question about their contribution to Blizzard and Diary or that they were shat on with the re-recordings but everyone makes mistakes, get over it. It's all about Ozzy and Randy, they know that and you know that. Taking Bob's word as gospel and dismissing Ozzy's or Sharon's version of events is delusional at best.
That is your opinion, which you are most certainly entitled to, but it is like saying Zeppelin is all about Robert & Jimmy.
Elton John has a wonderful talent, but how far would he have gone without the words of Bernie Taupin?
Folks tend to believe Bob moreso, as his story hasn't changed over the years, but you can't say the same for Ozzy and/or Sharon.
If folks are expected to believe the Osbournes are fair and honest people, then why is it that not only were Daisley and Kerslake slighted in the doc, that was expected, but where were Airey, Cook, Norman, Mertons, anyone from the Rhoads family, Tangye?
I guess their recollections of events would differ greatly from Ozzy and Sharon's.
Ozzy doesn't remember a lot of the 70s or the 80s, his drug and alcohol use is/was historic and his memory has paid heavily...have you seen the trailer for God Bless Ozzy Osbourne? He cannot recall the year his daughter Jessica was born, and you can see the shame and embarrassment on his face.
With that being said, how is this man any sort of authority on the events between 1979 and 81? Supposedly Sharon didn't return from business dealings in the states until August of 80, after Blizzard had been recorded, but she's writing herself into the history, and Ozzy goes along with it, as he can't remember if she was there or not. I'm not about to believe what she has to say, as once again, she brings out her sad and desperate tale of a tryst with Randy in Guitar World. This isn't one of her ridiculous talk shows, or a tabloid, plus, the man isn't around to defend himself. It's low budget, and I'm sure his family doesn't appreciate it much, but what can they do? What can anyone do? She's Sharon Osbourne and she does what she wants, and that includes shitcanning the Southampton disc and leaving extended versions of three songs off the box, just because she doesn't want these two guys getting any more credit or cash. God forbid she part with her beloved money!!
The box is bittersweet as it's a lot of material we didn't have, but there was so much more we could have had, but spite and jealousy prevented that.
From Classic Rock Magazine, October of 2010:
Finding the rest of the line-up would prove more problematic. In her 2005 autobiography, Extreme, Sharon depicts the rhythm section – former Uriah Heep drummer Lee Kerslake and ex-Rainbow bassist Bob Daisley – as talented but unlikeable, and their recruitment as a last resort when other players, including Cozy Powell, priced themselves out of contention.
“The instant I saw the band together,” she wrote, “I could see the dynamics didn’t work, but we were too far down the line.”
Excuse me? There's a couple of bootlegs that say otherwise!
It's clear that this woman has a fever, and the only thing that's gonna cure it is...more Tito!!
Peace
