Being a recording from the soundboard, they were able to pull each track separately and tweak the sound. This includes all the instruments, and even each separate drum on the kit. They probably EQ'd everything and ran it through a Sonic Maximizer (to beef it up).
The crowd noise is probably fake (added in) but who cares.
Ozzy's voice is definitely Auto-Tuned and/or Pitch Corrected. Gotta admit I love the fact that he is going the gritty hoarse route in a lot of the tunes (especially I Don't Know).
This is just my guess, and I was way wrong in my earlier post to think that maybe Bordin and Trujillo snuck their way into this album too.
But yeah, this live album is the Crown Jewel for sure.
The band sounds angry and right in your face. I'd put this album in line with all of the heaviness and excitement of a Metallica live album, whereas Tribute fits more in the style of a Purple's Made in Japan. Two different styles of live albums. This new live album sounds as if they were playing Madison Square Garden in 2010. Crazy!

I disagree with the auto-tune. I dont hear it in there. Not on what Ive listened to anyway. Fixed in the studio, sure, but not auto-tuned. I agree they had to have each individual track. I love the growl he gets in IDK, its pretty common through most of the boots. Ozzy, I mean, the vocals. I dont know what we're hearing and I really wish I knew where this came from, how it got put together, what the source was. But one thing is clear, its some of the best live Randy I have ever heard and I love it.

I agree! Yeah, don't know what they did with Ozz's voice, but he's killer on this album. Maybe they ran his vocal tracks through a Maximizer as well.
I really wish OTM was on this album!! Darn!! Now we have 2 live albums with Randy, and neither has OTM! Then again, Ozz always butchered the lyrics...

And still no band jam. Maybe next year. Can't wait for my box to arrive, the live cd will be on permanent play n my car and on my comp.

High quality recordings of OTM and the jam are my "grail". Im dying to see the Diary footage on the DVD.

I agree. The drums are unreal and what really makes this album stand out. I get the impression that some people on this board think it should have been a bootleg that had the overall sound EQ'd. Not at all. Any label release live album is gonna be tweaked and cleaned track by track, individual drums and so on.AndrewT1976 wrote:Being a recording from the soundboard, they were able to pull each track separately and tweak the sound.
