Hmmmm....

I'll be the first to admit - I am not totally familiar with a lot of Ozzy/Randy bootlegs out there. However, I AM very familiar with Tribute and also BOO and DOAMM.

The new live cd?? It doesn't sound like Rudy and Tommy. It sounds like Trujillo and Bordin.

Sorry, but, I have a really good ear for this stuff. This album sounds TOTALLY "doctored up" in the studio.

How did they get this album to sound SOOOO amazing???????

However, I really DO love this new live show. WoW.

Bordin always kicks his bass drum to match the cymbals exactly. This is pretty obvious on Steal Away the Night (from the new live album). Also - on Revelation, the tom fills are really delayed, and that's a BIG sign of Bordin's drumming.

It's definitely touched up, but no it doesnt sound like Trujillo at all to me. Drummer ... hmmmm.... not really but I am not an expert. I know what you're getting at, even though I dont want to type it "out loud". But I dont think these were overdubbed by modern musicians. I think its just been a lot of EQing and cleaning up. I dont know how, but theyve come up with something insane here.

love the Crazy Train fills that Randy does. Lots of squeals and pull-offs.

Then again, it does sound like Aldrige at points too. Especially "I Don't Know."

Unfortunately, the Osbournes have done some shady things (hint - 2002 remasters), so whenever we hear something that's old, but marketed as "new" we seem to lend our ears to suspicion.

Maybe it is Aldrige and Sarzo. Either way, I love the new album.

Yeah. But like I JUST said in another thread.....VERY odd note choices from Randy here. Its definitely his playing, his technique, his picking, his tone, everything. So it's him. But he really picks some very different notes and modes for some of his fills on these live tracks, very different from any other live stuff Ive heard.

FHA definitely sounds like Bordin. Big time.

I was thinking the same thing about Randy too, but I just didn't want to say it.

Here it goes...there are wayyyyy too many squeals.

This is really weird.

This recording does not seem legit to me.

I have NO IDEA how they pulled this off.

I'll be scratching my head for years to come.

I've just been listening to the songs on I-Tunes, so it doesn't have liner notes. I find it ALSO interesting that the box set doesn't list the city/venue/date for each tune.

FHA is absolutely, without question, from Montreal in 1981. The rest of them arent, but there's no question about FHA.

I'll even send you the file if you want. It has been re eq'ed and kinda touched up a bit, but it's definitely not Bordin. I'm sure the rest of them are legit, too, I just dont know WHERE they came from, it's freaky.

Ok, cool. I'm actually relieved that I'm wrong about FHA.

Well, then the album is LEGIT. I just got really suspicious there when I heard how amazing the quality was.

And also - on the 2002 version of DOAMM, it features a "live" performance of "I Don't Know" and it's Bording and Trujillo, so that was another reason why I was weirded-out about this new live album...

Sorry all.

Andy you'll be saying its zakk playing Randy's parts in a minute. Remember all those gigs that Tommy Aldridge said he had, and they all came from the soundboard. Like Ace said its been polished in the studio tweaked and equalised. I don't think the O's would dare to pull another attempt at replacing parts with modern players.

lol. I know. I'm fine now. I just got really weirded-out when I heard how awesome the quality was.

Interesting point about Zakk, you can DEFINITELY see where he got his squealing chops from:-))
