Box Set Book

Post by AndrewT1976 »

Any news on the details of the book? Any unreleased photos? Also - is there any text to go along with the book, or is it all just photos?

Absolute zero. No one who has received a review copy has had the book nor the Palladium footage included.

That clip of Ozzy he's browsing through the book i recognised a couple of pics that we have seen before. It's a nice size about the same size as a vinyl LP. I'm sure we'll see some new pics in there. Whoever gets this box set first, be sure to scan those pages ok. I'm only buying this if the footage gets a great review and if the book is worth the money. Cheers
This was one of them, but it looked like Bob had been chopped off from the left of the photo ?.

Yeah, Shaun I have a shitty feeling that though the book is gonna have some great photos, they're gonna be cropped or otherwise situated so all we can see is Ozzy and Randy. There was one shot from the original trailer, I'm guessing a pic from the book, of th UK Blizzard tour where Bob is in the pic, but Ozzy's arms are up, obscuring his face.
It's as though we're all the children in this bitter divorce, observing all of this petty, spiteful and immature behavior from grown men and women, and ultimately, we're the ones paying the price...literally in this case.

Bit of a shame really. Since the O's owe so much to Bob and Lee for Ozzy's solo career, it's a bummer that they seem to be trying their hardest to censor them out of everything they were ever involved in with Ozzy.

I almost pity Sharon, as actions like this make her appear unprofessional and more than a bit delusional...who exactly does she think she is fooling, anyway?
All of the fans know already who did what. Excluding and omitting only makes her look childish. Doing what she did in '02 only brought even more attention and press to the guys' names and made her look like a greedy villian.
There's only so much Sharon can have control of. There may be glowing reviews of this box and it's contents, (and rightly so), but more than one reviewer will point out the missed opportunities and how everyone except Randy and Ozzy seem to have been painted out of the history of the making of these albums.
I'm sure there will be some knockout photos in theis book, but when most of us have flipped the last page, we all may be thinking the same thing: It could have been so much more... :|

Hit the nail on the head. This whole fighting situation with Bob and Lee causes us as fans to suffer.

Does anyone know anything about the photo shoots for the BOO album cover and the DOAMM album cover? Where they took place, what dates, was there ever any alternate album covers considered?

Shaun (GI) shared this about the BOO cover last July:

I asked the photographer Fin Costello about the shoot and he said "The cover was shot in June 1980 at Metropolitan Wharf in Wapping London E1
(Studio M)". The studio was on the top floor of the old warehouse looking over
the Thames to Bermondsey. That is not my shot of the group (referring to the back cover pic) as I recall though I did a session for the cover at Ridge Farm and may be wrong.
There is a credit on that picture. I'm sure the photographer is
credited on the cover or liner. It's too long ago now and I don't have
my negs here anymore. I have been retired from Rock Photography since 2005. Many thanks for your interest Cheers Fin

Someone, (most likely Shaun), did post a bunch of pics from the Diary cover shoot a short while ago, but I'll be damned if I can turn them up.

I went back ten pages from today, but still found nothing about the Diary cover shots, I did find this thread at TK:
